Can someone explain this to me

I have a warrior. There are two equips - 65WA lionheart and 67WA onyx blade. The lionheart is 2H while the onyx blade is 1H. When I equip the onyx blade, my range is lower than when using the lionheart. Why is this so? The weapon attack of the onyx blade is higher. Can someone explain it? Is it because the onyx blade is 1H? Will it change if I wear a random shield? Thanks.

yes thats the reason the dmg calcs for 1 h and 2 hand are different the 2 hand having the larger modifiers. it will change if u wear an atack or str sheild to compensate and add to the numbers. it is possible to have a 1 h outdmg a 2h because of the option of an attack sheild

2h's have a higher multiplier than a 1h but the lionheart is faster than the onyx blase. o.o if you wear a shield w/ att or str.. it would bridge the gap.. o.o but, like i said, the lionheart is faster.. and has a wider lateral reach than the onyx blade. use the lionheart. o.o

Random example: If you hit someone with a stick with one hand holding it and then hit the same person with the stick but with two hands holding it The two hand one will hurt more obviously.

yeah like everyone said the damage multiplier thingie is different.The reason most people use 1hs later is because brandish always has the same range so it doesnt matter.Some people prefer fast 1h sword+ good attack shield in 4th job.

The damage multiplier is different. The reason being is so that they could make it "balance" when it's down with speed + damage. If you train, you could see a difference in time of killing the monsters so focus on how you train on ranges.

why are you people retarded.......... Also, the two-handed stick doesn't really work. By applying the second hand to a weapon with barely any mass, you generally slow the weapon down. While you can apply more pushing leverage this way, you definitely can't apply more striking force; remember force is mass x acceleration, so with two hands, you won't have any striking power in comparison, since its slower than a 1-handed snap of the wrist (the two hand removes that) but once you do contact, you have a stronger push. It would make far more sense to compare a real life zweihander (i.e. two-handed greatsword) to a medieval one-handed arming sword or a Roman/Spanish/Legionary Gladius . By applying two hands, you, again, lose the speed of strike and initial blow force, but you gain more cutting power and momentum through the slice, which is very important when you're talking about edged and heavy weapons. Sticks weigh nothing in comparison to heavy 2-handed blades. With a perfect sword, you can exert both striking force with an average amount of speed, and give the blade enough momentum to break bones and give concussions (if striking plated armour or chain mail) or to slice off heads and cut deeply. Compare: Wakazashi vs Katana. One is a one-handed weapon, and one is a hand-and-a-half weapon. The katana performs much more spectacularly than the wakazashi with the extra hand applied, and they are both of equal lethality when used one-handed (or dual wielded) This can be explained further as to why exclusively one-handed spears ceased existing after the advent of guns (even though long spears and pikes still existed to repel cavalry). Most spears are designed for two hands in mind; however, they are just short enough that you can wield them one-handedly in an aegean phalanx (i.e. in the movie 300). They evolved quickly into exclusive two-handed use; the Macedonian phalanx seen in the movie Alexander. The extra hand allows for better pushing power (and thus impaling power) and greatly increases defencive capabilities, especially against a 600lb rider and horse charging - a one-handed spear would never be able to cut it, in terms of physics. In terms of polearms, they must be two handed as generally the blade is too heavy to swing quickly one-handed (and if swung too slowly, it does not even cut - Compare; take an open pair of scissors and slide slowly across paper. Faster with very slight down force (increase of friction/force applied) or with more down force (momentum to use the edge to cut) and it cuts). I.e. link
