This is to end those rumours that claim that timeless weapons cause lukless to be outdated. 1. I/L & F/P would never use timeless weapons. 2. Elemental wands are still better, even for bishops: Ele Wand 6: 145m.atk 2int clean + nothing - 4 LUK base [143 stats] Timeless staff: 135m.atk clean + 24 m.atk/int (maximum possible item level up bonus) • note that the probabilty of getting +24 is around the same as passing 4 10% scrolls in a row. - 123 LUK base Zakum helm= 15 LUK Horntail pendant = 22 LUK LUK+ 4 Blue Varuna LUK+ 3 Blue Ciara LUK+ 3 Blue Varr Shoes [83 stats] 143 vs 83

I think the magic attack increases when you level, not completely sure.
kirbyhyper 06/18/09 + PM | QUOTE | PERMALINK | REPORT
Well, I heard on that very patch they're going to make Elemental Wands incompatible with Bishops, so maybe that could increase some reason to use the Timeless Weapons on them. On the other hand, the Doomsday and Maple Wisdom Staves exist, so it's not all that likely.

Yeah the timeless weapon, once equipped, has its own leveling system. It increases in power as you use it. Not entirely sure how this works though.

Thank you, I'm glad someone knows the truth, now only if we could get someone on this Knights of Cygnus racket I'm hearing...

You are assuming the person equipping the timeless is someone who has 123 luk BASE. This doesn't account for luk from Zhelm, HT, or other equips. I'm not saying this evens the playing field for luk vs lukless, but that can make a difference for luk vs low-luk. That's also assuming they will never allow the second 2 upgrades on a HT. I have about 42 luk from my equips right now (the ones I'm going to keep, anyway), so that would bump that 36 up to 78. Only a little over half of the lukless stats, I know. They are eventually supposed to give penalties for elemental attacks that don't match the wand as well, so that will at least change it for bishops.

In other versions, if you try and use an elemental wand without using the proper element (bishops using fire/poison/ice/lightning wands), you get a damage reduction. I don't know why they didn't carry that over to GMS. It's kind of lame seeing bishops using weapons that would have way more potential if they were in the hands of an arch mage. ;[

SilverFoxRThe Timeless Wand/Staff can potentially fully upgrade it's magic attack to match the E-wand/staff, but there apparently is one final thing that can also potentially happen to a fully-upgraded Timeless weapon that can possibly tip the scales in this weapon's favour. From what I've heard, once a Timeless weapon reaches it's final upgrade, it can improve an existing job-specific skill by 1 level. The skill depends on the class of the user who the weapon is bonded to. For example, a Timeless 1-h or 2-h sword/axe will increase Brandish by 1 level if equipped by a Hero. Essentially, this gives the odd, but cool potential for the weapon to give the user a lv 31 skill, as opposed to a normal lv 30. It's probably not a massive boost overall, but it will increase damage of that skill. Additionally, we never know if they fix the elemental wand/staff's damage formula like the other versions in where if you use an element that does not work with the weapon, you lose damage. This means that even if you're say, for example, an I/L Arch Mage, you'd only be using one of your elements effectively. With the Timeless weapon, both will work as they're meant to.

EmpireSunLet's say 56 base LUK Zakum helm= 15 LUK Horntail pendant = 22 LUK Maple Shield= 20 LUK <--now it's easier to get them. LUK+ 4 Blue Varuna LUK+ 3 Blue Ciara LUK+ 3 Blue Varr Shoes = 123 LUK.....=/ so its only 52 LUK the difference in the end.
SoIontus 06/18/09 + PM | QUOTE | PERMALINK | REPORT
Elemental weapons give a 25% boost to an element and a 10% boost to a secondary element. That means both elements are used more effectively with an elemental wand than with a timeless wand/staff which give a 0% increase. Timeless wands/staffs cannot beat elemental wands/staffs for mages no matter what. For bishops, I dont know. Another thing, there are NO lvl 31 skills. That means the skill boost is only applied if your skills aren't maxed.

Which is therefore 143 vs 88 The EWand still wins unless that thing I said comes up. Edit: lighthat said: "Timeless weapons increase in power as they level. Besides, Ele Wand 6 is higher level than the timeless wand, idiot. -.-" He refers to that the Element Wand is luckless while the Timeless Weapon is not (which therefore requires 123 LUK to equip).

Who cares? The timeless staff is dead sexy. Seriously though, I'm gonna just wait until they come out before saying anything. If the ele wands have shown us anything about this game, it's that we can't necessarily trust content based on how it works in other versions. >_>

Each lv the weapon gets is 0-2 more atk/mattk They can only lv 4 times and even if each lv did 2 atk, 8 still isnt enough to match a ele wand.

Uh the timeless weapons are good for any NORMAL stat non-damage horing bishops, even IL/FP's. Soon elementals will have negative effects on bishops (75% damage) thus making all the luckless bishops screwed (laugh at them) and making all the normal luck bishops laugh at the luckless*(typo), and use their timeless weapon. And due to your terrible math skills, ALL stat points must be atleast four. Strength, dexterity, luck, and intelligence. Therefore the 147 stat wand does NOT get a negative four due to the luck, as the luck is mandatory. Edit : Also, misleading thread title. All you did was discriminate against mages. Timeless weapons are 100% better for all other classes.

Anyways yeah, Lukless Bishops will be screwed over by this EWand damage % reduction right?
