Corsair Flash Drive

I'm encountering a really strange issue with my flash drive. Its a corsair flash drive -16gb and when I tried to put a certain file which is 6gb large, it says the file is too large for the storage device. I even resolved to formatting the flash drive and when it was completely empty, it still would not take the file. Does anyone know what I can do to figure this out as there is obviously something wrong with my flash drive. Tips and help welcomed~ Thank you

what kind of file is it? is it a program? if it's a program, and u want to use it on ur flashdrive, u gotta install it onto the flash drive. put the setup in ur flashdrive and install it .

so u have a setup file for a game and u can't copy it onto ur flash drive because it says it is too big?

when you're installing games for some reason the installation can take up to triple the memory but die down once it's done. It's probably trying to install onto your flash drive which can't handle the installation process.

It's probably formated in FAT32, which has a file size limit. Either format it to NTFS or split the file to several smaller files using winrar for example.

You're right about only needing to split it into two files since it's only 6GB, making each file about 3GB. The size limit FAT32 has is around 5GB if I'm not mistaken. However, I doubt it's trying to install the file on the flash drive assuming he's actually copying the file, not running it.

@ZadowX I just checked and it was formatted as Fat32. If I just changed the format would that do me any good or would I still need to split it?

If you format it to NTFS you can copy the file over to the flashdrive as it is, since NTFS has no size limit.

File size limit for FAT32 is indeed 4GB. Try reformatting it into ntfs, which should do the trick. If it doesn't, split the file up. EDIT: never post a tech question in chat section, or you will get answers like the few first I have a good example of a thread which I should probably link here..

If he didn't post it in chat section I would probably not have seen the thread, and would never come here and help him. It is indeed the wrong section, but at least he got help here.
