"Please put some effort into your comment, use proper grammar, real words and try to be as clear as you can." That is not even grammatically correct. How can we possibly expect others to type correctly when there are mistakes such as these on every single forum page? The real reason I made this thread was to dispute how this should be rectified. There are many possible corrections. The following are possible corrections. These phrases will not fit on a poll. 1. "Please put some effort into your comment, use proper grammar, use real words and try to be as clear as you can." 2. "Please put some effort into your comment ; use proper grammar, use real words and try to be as clear as you can." 3. "Please put some effort into your comment . U se proper grammar, use real words and try to be as clear as you can." By the way, the reason for the use was verb distribution. If anyone has other possible corrections, please post them.

A semicolon is not necessary; 'effort' does not necessarily specify proper grammar or the use of real words. Each part of that sentence is a separate request, and thus separated by commas.

You don't have to say use twice, because it was already said so it continues off of that, just like saying and by the ending of a sentence. Ex, The monster had green horns, blue lips, and a purple nose.

Actually, it can be considered grammatically correct. The second 'use' is considered understood, and is therefore an elliptical element in the sentence. It's fine. Don't be a grammar nazi.
