Before anyone says anything, I am well aware that Rapid Fire is not the main skill used for a Corsair so please don't bring that up. My question or maybe more observation is to do with Hurricane and Rapid Fire. Ok unless I have got something wrong here, and feel free to correct me if I have, this is how I see it. Rapid Fire is 170% damage right and Hurricane is 100% damage plus critical makes it 100-200% damage with the 50% success rate so on average that makes it Hurricane is 150% damage (yes I know I haven't added Sharp Eyes in yet, let me get to that) So adding Sharp Eyes in there which a Bowmaster will have solo probably makes hurricans average damage % higher (I can't be bothered working out the math there) But lets say in a Party a Corsair with SE and Rapid Fire, wouldn't it be equal to if not more damage than a bowmaster can do on average? I'm not sure if I am missing anything there, I probably am. And I am by no means saying that one class is better than the other, just a question on looking at the % wouldnt Rapid Fire be just as good as Hurricane. Guess it comes down to equips also. Also from what I have noticed, my Outlaw has a fairly high damage range with the same fundings as my friends ranger. Hopefully someone can help out here and explain it to me. Thanks~

Bowmasters have a lot more base damage thanks to Bow Expertise (like 20% more usually). Bullseye is probably enough to cancel that out, but I don't think you're getting how Critical works. SE helps classes that have a critical a lot more than classes that don't. Without SE Hurricane does 100% damage 60% of the time and 200% damage 40% of the time. Average 140%. With SE Hurricane does 100% damage 45% of the time and 340% damage 55% of the time. Average 232%. Without SE Rapid Fire does 170% damage all the time. With SE Rapid Fire does 170% damage 85% of the time and 310% damage only 15% of the time. Average 191%. Bowmasters always have SE, Corsairs don't. Even when we do Hurricane is a lot stronger. Plus don't forget I included Bullseye. In normal training Hurricane would be like 280% of a Corsair's base damage per arrow.

If Basil wasn't so anal about linking to other MS fansites I'd just link you up to the place where you can go get this spreadsheet and play around with the numbers yourself until your heart is content. But alas, I can't. The following info is for single-target DPS only. This is not about mobbing because there's way too many other factors to consider in on such a thing (and I didn't figure that's what you were interested in anyhow, considering the skills you are asking about). Couple things to bear in mind when comparing a BM with Hurricane and a Corsair with RF. A BM would logically always have Sharp Eyes because its their own skill. There's no reason why you wouldn't use your own skill. A Corsair would only get it when partied with a BM. Also, RF is a secondary skill for us, Hurricane is a BM's main attacking skill. So, if we're going on damage with skills/buffs that only you have, the numbers look like this: link As that shows, Hurricane obviously hits more than Rapid Fire (yet even RF hits more than TT.... xD Off topic, I know) Now, take 'em all and throw them in a party together. We give them ALL Sharp Eyes, Speed Infusion (this actually does nothing for Rapid Fire or Hurricane, so you know, because they both already hit the speed cap, this is just for some of the other skills pictured) and a 12 w.atk pot. Call it rage or call it an NLC pot, I don't care, they do the same thing. Just throwing in some fair things you'd expect to find in a party. Numbers now look like so: link As you see, both attacks are now stronger, but the gap between RF and Hurricane has not closed, Hurricane is still stronger than RF. So, I hope that answered your question? But hey, you already know you won't be using RF except for when your ship breaks, and the numbers for Cannon are in there too, so you can compare those too.

Ah fantastic, thankyou to both of you. Makes more sense now. Probably can tell but maths was never one of my strong points, just looking at it quickly and getting the gist of things works better for me. But yes answers my question perfectly. I was more just curious about it and incapable of doing the maths for myself :P
