Maple Story vs

I chose the General Maple Story section because...well it pertains to Maple Story. Well, I've seen many threads saying Maple Story vs. Runescape and stuff like that. I've always wondered why this is so; I have finally figured it out. These two games are worse than any other mmo out there.(I'm exaggerating here, there are some that are worse). Now don't get me wrong, Maple Story itself is a good game, but the people that play it ruin it for many. I'm not saying there are scammers, hackers, and complete idiots running all over the place; but the few there are, ruin the game. Runescape is also filled with idiots(this time I'm not exaggerating). There are people in that game that will randomly walk up to you and say, "Noob" I never got why but oh well. What I'm getting at here is, it isn't the game that is bad(though some are...many are) it's the people. Well, that's my rant for the year...or month...week... Maple is a good MMO. It's just the immature 12 year olds behind the characters that ruin it.

Maple Story, one of the worst MMO? I guess you never played Fly for fun, Adventure Quest Worlds, Silk Road, Conquer Online, Out War, the list goes on. The community is even worst there >.>

Does age really have anything to do with immaturity? I have played Flyff, Silk Road, Conquer, and plenty of others. When I played Flyff, it wasnt that bad. Conquer, well I didnt really play it long enough, I got bored really easily. and Silk Road was fun if not for all the pkers. But, like I said, there are some games that are worse, I have no delusions about that. Im just saying that Maple is getting worse and worse.

It just happens to be the younger players that act immature. At least the ones I've encountered.

How is Maple getting worst? The community hasn't changed much at all. If anything, it's better, I rarely see a hacker now, compared to one being everywhere 3 years ago.

Agreed, I was just about to make a post like this then I saw his. The Maple community REALLY is getting better, it's just slow. It's still bad, yes. Very, very bad. But you can smell progress.

I played Silkroad for years but it use to be like MS in the beginning a perfect game and Gms banning hackers, etcs. I quit Sro just last week after hitting cap because the game was getting to broken and ending up to be about who willing to spend 1000$-10,000$+ to get a good players with great gear. Its the other company that ruins the game (Gold Company&Bot companys) and the greed that sets in with the game. Ms is heading in the same direction already. THere already getting thing silkroad has had for a long time that has made it the game it is now. The 1 thing i have to give credit to ms is that the gms do there job but they look the other way if u spend enough NX in the game, I have proof on that. I give ms 1-2 more years before it become to broken. And believe me the Community on MS is 1000x better then Silkroad, u say u get those people saying noob for no reason, Silkroad has Turkish players. Once u play sro u will learn to hate Turkish, and im not trying to sound racist but, after 3 years of give turkish players 2nd try,3 try etc they just fail every time. I always thought it was just young kids but its all ages its just in there blood i just don't understand it.

When I played I only saw english and a and a few spanish speaking players. If you want Turkish players, play Knight Online. There are very few english speakers in that game. It is filled with botters and hackers and the economy is WAY inflated. When I played, I sold a +1 str necklace (very common) for 10k and it sold fast. I went back to the game a few months later and tried to buy a +1 str necklace (still very common but I was lazy) and it was selling at an average of 10mil each. People think Maple's economy is bad, but it's really not. My friend started playing a few weeks ago for the first time ever, and he's already doing well for himself. He's no Maple Bill Gates, but he's no struggling like I was when I joined in beta. So if anything the economy is doing grand. As for the community issue once again, Maple will always have the one of the worst yet one of the best. Because Maple is so ridiculously popular, and ALWAYS will be (until MMOs become extinct), it's targeted by the most hackers, scammers, and advertisers. So there's always going to be them. But again because it's so popular, new people join everyday. This game has soooo many members and STILL new people are joining for the first time, which is a good sign, because not all of those people will be bad people. The bad are eventually weeded out, banned, get bored and quit, etc, and only the good are left. Well, mostly the good. It'll be a long process -- a looong process, but it will happen.

Communities are almost always the downfall of a mmo. That or a new server opens up closer to where most of the players live. That's what happened to my favorite mmo, Perfect World. It seriously had one of the best communities you'll ever find in any mmo. The thing is, another company decided to make a better translated version of it. (I played a Malaysian english version of the game) So the game became all high levels and no new people. The new version of the game doesn't have the nice community I had grown fond of so I quit. It was boring in an empty game when i played the MY-EN version, then the community ruined it for me in the newer one. Communities are the deciding factor in any game for me, the only reason I continue to play Maple (besides the fact that it's so freakin addicting) is I know some of the few nice people in the game, and they make it fun.

Maplestory is a great mmo, I have yet to find one that I like better than maplestory. Although yes the community does damage maplestory's ability to be a great mmo. If the community was more mature it would definitely be a much better mmo. Runescape to me is considered p2p since after about 2 weeks of playing I finished all of the non member quests(except for one that was for like level 8x characters) which means it's just another endless grind to reach higher levels, just with worse graphics and less fun gameplay(to me at least). Maplestory has the endless grind but at least if you get bored you can go kill a few bosses, do a few pq's or even do some of the quests to remotivate yourself to grind. Maplestory is a great f2p mmo, that is certain. Now start comparing it with other p2p mmo's(WoW, Asheron's Call, Everquest, etc.) and it just doesn't compete.

There are plenty of f2p mmo's I've played that I like better than maple. I mentioned one of the in the post right about yours.
