I don't think I've been here to experience "Old Basil" and half the threads are complaining how "New Basil" is ruining everything. To those who were a part of "Old Basil", can you provide me with a few examples of what was discussed then versus what is discussed now in "New Basil"? This is just out of curiosity I'm not saying any opinion of "Old Basil vs. New Basil" is wrong. Thanks.

To be honest, most of the time people complain about "Old Basil" when they have no idea what they're really talking about according to others. I never experienced "Old Basil" so I don't know either. :P

Old Basil = much more mature (sorta), original.. group of kids. It's not that big of a deal really. :/

Old Basil was a time of less regulation. Mods weren't known and the format of Basil was much more different. A good majority of the people in the Chat section new each other and we were an active part of the community that was basically like lunch time during school.

In Old Basil, there was less need for moderators, meaning that there were less trolls, retarded people, etc. going around the forums and it was actually a pretty cool place to be, if you're a pro retired mapler (at least on Chat Island).

Lots of Mature debates about controversial issues. They ended without any major flaming. Also, there were a lot of fun threads about Skalz + DoR Original threads that actually sparked a discussion. Old Basil was "Closer" in a kind of sorts. Everybody knew each other.

That sums it up for me :D I was never around for "Old Basil", and I'm pretty sure it was nice, but I'm fine with basil now

divine619I liked the screen section better back then. Edit: If we're talking about before that, I don't know I was only interested in the auctions. O.O

Basil is like pokemon. New basilers will like their own generation better than one they don't know about.

FREEZEPOPOkay, I don't exactly consider myself as a "veteran Basiler", but I'll just say this... It's not entirely about the topics that were brought up. It was more about the people. The community was (in my opinion) better. Of course, there were still trolls and flamers... But now, that's all I see. Basilmarket has basically become a very popular Maple Story forum, so it's no surprise there would be a huge flow of new members and a greater number of posts. It's inevitable for this to have happened because this is based on a video game which have a large populations of early teenagers. Also, the people seemed to be very friendly in the past, and since the community was smaller, the majority of the people knew each other.

But basically, where we draw the line for old and the new would be when Maple actually went public and started advertising like crazy. Then as a result more and more people started using Basil. and now here is what we have.
