Hmm, It really depends on how much effort you put in and how many you do. Ive been doing sets of crunches for 4 weeks now, before i go to bed. I started at 50 and go up by 10 each saturday. Its toning me slowly.

Do as many as you can during the amount of time you give yourself to do them each day for as many days as you will decide to use that time for doing crunches on. Also, remember to pace yourself.

Keep doing them until you get muscle failure, and you've done as many as you can. Rest, then do another set. Rest again, then one more final set. Then let your muscles rebuild and do it again the next day. Your abs usually need a day of rest until you do more.

You guys are silly. First of all, what crunches do is tighten your abs. Someone overweight by 30 pounds has abs; if they did crunches, it would -- like I said -- tighten them. If you want them to actually show, you need a low body fat percentage. And you can't do just crunches...your body will get used to them. You need to vary out your exercises.

Start low and gradually increase the number. Try to do them everyday, and do some pushups and running as well to balance your body and muscles.

Some 30 year old male with a pot belly who does crunches can get a six pack of muscle but cannot be seen because its hidden by fat. Its ideal to first lose fat through Cardiovascular activity before building muscle. |
