Hi friends of old and Basilers of new. It's been two long months since my last post and I have finally found some time to log on and reminisce about all times. I have had quite a few requests for updates on work/life in general so this is a perfect opportunity for me to do so. Most importantly yesterday at 10:11am I was officially awarded the title of Doctor. This was something I had worked for over 8 years of my life to achieve and it's a great relief to finally have it all over and done with. Apart from that I have finally settled in to my new home in Melbourne, and am currently car shopping. Job is going well. I am working with some incredibly talented people. The work itself is pretty exciting too. I am looking for new potential therapeutic targets by analysing genome wide SNP (single nucleotide polymorphism) analysis in cancer. A lot of the collaboration is done with some chaps in Oxford so there will be a lot of opportunities to work over there later on. It's also good to work for a company with lots of funding, as I am primarily creating scripts to analyse 1000's of gigabytes worth of data they are spending $50k on buying me a 24core monster. However my social life has taken a back seat. I've barely been out in the past 2 months. A lot of my colleagues are older or married and hence not the most social bunch. But I guess this was bound to happen sooner or later. Anyways I have a bit of free time today and tomorrow I might be around to answer any questions you might have.

Congratz Dimo, your having a great life. Also since your answering questions, I am asking you. Is it hard to become a doctor? Like is there a lot of work you have to put in, etc. Also are you scared of opening peoples stomach and looking inside, do operations, etc. Oh darn I can't call you Dimo anymore, Dr. Dimo. Wow it does have a good ring to it.
