If it's on a thread, and you are the last poster, you can delete it, post again, and bump the thread to the front page, which some spammers could abuse until the thread is deleted.

If you make an offensive post, or any post that's against the rules, someone could delete their post before a mod or mrb sees it. And that wouldn't be good D:

Yea, it could be abused in many ways O_o And seeing as humans will be humans, it's best not to open up anyways for them to do so.

I agree with you. People edit out their comments instead of deleting them, so deletion would be beneficial.

The person later saw the bad in their post and wanted to get rid of it as to not cause problems. So how is that bad?

If a post needs to be deleted it will get deleted. And you will get an unnecessary long suspension. If you plan to post something moronic face the consequences or alter your post. And get a suspension anyway because mods apparently like to ban people. :D

i love you and stuff, but the only reason you would want to delete a thread is if you BROKE TEH ROOLZ.

I wanna be able to delete posts when i accidently post on my brothers account, when its logged on the computer we both use, and i dont see that, and forget to log out and and..Yah post on hes account! >:O

You're supposed to be able to get suspended for a rule-breaking post you make. Deleting it would just delete the evidence that was there, which defeats the purpose of suspensions.
Kazoothebat 05/20/09 + PM | QUOTE | PERMALINK | REPORT
It's pretty simple. If someone makes a bad post but edits it out, we're still able to suspend for that post as long as we have evidence to know what it used to say. But if the post is gone, they're off free. We can't suspend unless the post is still there. Basil is not mature to moderate itself in any way. Case closed.
