Hey Basil. I'm actually thinking of drawing manga for a living once I finish highschool. I just need to know if I got what it takes. I only have three drawings on basil right now, but it'd help if you criticized them and tell me what I am doing wrong. Thanks for taking the time.

divine619I'd say to start practicing different poses.

I'd say the poses are fairly different in my drawings.

Try something more practicle. Or put big boobies in every female character.

You have talent but, you should think about it.

Try to not rush them! Take a bit more time than 25 minutes oh oh and even though your proportioning is very well done looking at body parts and muscles helps a lot! :D

That Bass picture is amazing. As for the Sidestepping, the proportion seems a little off. It appears as if the character looks anorexic? Work with proportions is my suggestions.

I'm just suggesting you practice even more poses to be ready for manga. :] Like these (I know it's kind of scary to look at...) link Also if you'd like to join our artist group link Edit: I didn't mean to sound rude in my first post if I did.

guibinYou can draw but can you make a good story? that's important! EDIT: Yeah, starting in Japan would probably help....better start learning Japanese if you haven't already!

Read Bakuman. link It'll tell you a lOT about manga-writing. Also, I don't think you can succeed. Especially in America. If you were situated in Japan, you'd at least have a chance.

I'm half Jap, so I can speak Japanese fairly well. As for the manga publishing itself, I'd have a pretty good shot at it if my drawings are good enough. TokyoPop and some other companies are looking for a variety of manga artists.

I agree it could be very fun though. But the fact is, people change. And with this change, their art style changes. I would hate to be stuck doing the same character design in the same style for too long.

True. Time to get ready to live in my mom's basement until I get somewhere with this .
