Merchanting: What am I doing wrong?

Well, lately I've been pretty desperate for money and decided to merchant. I really thought it would give a real big boost in my funds but I've been barely getting anything. It takes me at least 2 days to find 2 or 3 cheap scrolls and only end up with 1m-1.5m profit. I see A LOT of people making about 10m-100m every time they decide to merchant. I have looked at Bunnie's Merchanting Guide but it doesn't help me at all. What am I doing wrong?

Search through the fm. Every fm. Stay at the entrance for 15 minutes when you have time. I make atleast 20mil from this.

You can only find 2 or 3 cheap scrolls in 2 days? You're not looking hard enough then. Make sure you are familiar with prices and if you really want to sell your stuff quickly, buy anything that is 500k or more below the marketed price and sell for 200k below the marketed price. The 300k's add up fairly quickly.

You're trying to do this while there is an event going on. That's your problem.

I do look through all the FMs and waste about an hour trying to look for scrolls. I see some really good deals but they're always sold out. Edit @shortstuf: I spend about an hour looking through all FMs and can never find anything cheap. My friend also told me to look for things about 500k under their original price but I just can't seem to find anything. Edit @pointedlaser: I tried to do this before the event as well, I had the same problem.

Find in your heart what would make you rich, without other people using the same technique. Well thats how I get rich.
