Do you guys think that Miss California lost only because of Perez Hilton? I think that Perez Hilton should grow up and accept that some people don't approve of gay marriage. He took things too far, giving her a 0 on her answer. Then he goes off and makes fun of her on his blog. Talk about being mature...... >_> What do you think? link

Though both had their right to express their opinion in the forum of their choice, I can't say we're in a position to barter, as it were, so defiantly. Perez has a habit of throwing fuel on a fire, and it's beginning to effect the rest of us. He needs to learn his place.

I think the girl was stupid by saying that. Not because I think gay marriage is great, but because she knew she was answering a question that could decide her place in the competition, and a person judging her was gay. This is a competition. If she doesn't realize that it could ruin her chances of winning by saying she is against same sex marriage to a gay judge, she is not very smart. Though i do agree Perez Hilton did go too far on this.

Too bad Perez Hilton can't tell the difference between a blatant homophobic person and a person who believes that marriage should be between a man and a woman, but supports gay rights. Perez Hilton is clearly the intolerant one here. I can't believe he went as far as to give Miss California a 0 on her answer (clear bias because Hilton is homosexual) and went as far as to slander her on his video blog. Good job, Perez. You just made homosexuals around the world look bad with your actions.

Who cares if her answer wasn't what he wanted; doesn't honesty count for anything? >___> Being true to yourself is better than BS an answer just to win. Perez needs to grow up..." This. ^^and that

I would have given her a 0 too. Everyone in this thread is bagging on Perez Hilton because it's the cool thing to do, but we all know her answer was utter BS. First she tried to be politically correct by saying "It's great we live in a land blah blah reciting what my manager told me to say" THEN she went ahead and said "I believe gay marriage is wrong because god told me so." The second opinoin negates the first. The reason she is not fit for the "crown" (oh boy, beauty pageant) is because Mrs USA or whatever it is is someone who needs to encompass every aspect of America. Gay people are PART of america. I'm sticking up for him. Good job, Perez Hilton.

Is it fundamentally wrong to be against gay marriage because of the way you were raised and the beliefs your family has? I don't think so. She was in no way acting as a homophobic person and she should be applauded for answering with truth and honesty. Last time I checked, which wasn't too long ago, bias was not allowed in judging and slander could be prosecuted.

I'm pretty sure qualifying for the title involved asking that question, and his opinion was that she was not fit for it and gave her a 0. If she had just stopped at "Great that anyone can choose one or the other" then she would have gotten a good score.

That's a pretty tolerant stance if you ask me. Give gay couples all the rights of married couples, but define marriage as between a man and a woman.

Then how come the other contestant did not receive such a controversial question then? Additionally, the judge was a homosexual, and the way Miss California answered the question lead to his bias against her. Honestly, nobody can represent the American public because the public is too divided on issues and beliefs. The fact that he deliberately gave her a 0 when she answered the question truthfully without taking a homophobic stance shows his bias. Even more pathetic are his comments in his video blog, where he slanders Miss California for her comments and proceeds to call her a dumb (slang for female dog) that deserved to lose. If you tell me that Perez Hilton was not acting in a biased and intolerant way, I'll say that you are completely ignorant of the world today.

Silverleaf28Only thing I didn't like in her answer was the preppy phrase, "like no offense". O_o Can't she think of something better to say?
