I thought the second gen was best. All other gens sucked for me. I like Sceptile, but I couldn't beat the elite 4 with him. Maybe it's because I suck with grass types in general.

The only thing I could use as a main pokemon to beat the elite four with a grass type was Sceptile and Torterra so Treeco and Turtwig I guess
