According to this loner in my class, hugging other men (even if they're related to you) makes you gay. I laughed a little at how ignorant that statement was but I was also kind of angry, so I want to prove him wrong by asking you guys what you think about it. Does giving another man a friendly hug make you gay, or is it just friendly? EDIT: The guy is too afraid to read the comments you made about him, probably because he doesn't want to face the truth.

Different cultures do different things. If you dont greet someone with a hug in my culture its considered disrespectful.

it depends on the guy, and the culture. russian guys kiss each other on the cheeks (many european countries actually). I am uncomfortable hugging other guys personally, unless they're related to me or something big just happened. It's not that I'm afraid of being mistook for gay, it's just my nature. I like my personal space you know?

If I haven't seen a friend for a long time, I always give them a hug. They're usually the ones to initiate it too, assuming we're both heterosexual. Whoever thinks that defines your sexuality, to be blunt, is an idiot. By his logic, I'm heterosexual because I hug women. People who make remarks like that usually end up victims of social Darwinism.
