+ PM | QUOTE | PERMALINK | REPORT
| I don't know how much Andrew has said people about the two of us, but I've generally kept quiet about it, even to people I know well. It's just too hard to understand for most people I guess. I got fed up with people telling me I was crazy, and I know some of you gave him a hard time too. But you know, I just don't care anymore what people think. Yeah, it was crazy. We met online, and we decided to meet up in real life. He flew all the way from Ontario to see me, and we spent a week in the mountains north of Vancouver. This is our story. And it's long, so don't read unless you are up for a wall of text. I hate Mysticmagix Mysticmagix was, in my opinion, the most pompous, arrogant, annoying moderator on Basil ever. I hated seeing his posts and took every chance I got to criticize him on the forums. We didn't get along at all for over a year. And then February 6th, I got a PM from him. It said something like "I'm sorry we didn't get along before, but I'm glad you're back". I was pretty impressed, and so I pestered Kazoothebat until I got his email address. We started talking. A lot. Pretty soon, I was spending more time on MSN with him than with my boyfriend at the time (who ironically has a very similar name, Drew). Then Valentines Day. Drew surprises me by flying back early from a business trip in the US and taking me for out for dinner. We've been dating steadily for almost two months, but something always didn't seem right. That night, things get a little out of control and I break up with him. I walk home thinking I am the worst person in the world. Drew was perfect - polished, worldly, wildly intelligent, threw money around like it grew on trees - but yet oddly, not perfect for me. It had to be one of my lowest moments. Basilmarket and MSN on the night of Valentines Day, but I'm too depressed to care. I sign on. Mystic is there. We start talking and we keep talking until morning and I feel much better. Then every night afterwards. Suddenly, nightclubs don't seem that interesting anymore. Nor do rounds of shots at the bar, nor wild frat parties at the UBC residence. I think to myself, I must be finally growing up and out of the freshman party phase. Okay, so maybe I don't hate MysticMagix February 22nd. I get a PM. He LIKES me? What the -? But... haven't I been staying at home every night for the past two weeks just to talk to him? Oh no. This is bad. He writes at the end of the PM: "I'm pretty sure this will scare you away and rightly so, so take care." For once I realize I'm scared of not talking to him. So I think... Maybe this is just a phase and we'll both get over it, but I'm not going to lose him meanwhile. Somewhere along the way though, my feelings for him grow stronger. Fast forward to sometime in late March. I'm making plans to go to Whistler for Easter Break with my friends. They are a bunch of rowdy fourth year undergrads. I say to Andrew I wish he were coming with me instead. Suddenly a crazy, impossible idea hits the both of us. |
