Please explain how this is offensive.

I recently received a lengthy ban for breaking rule 2 with a comment from the mod saying my thread was very offensive. So here it is. Thread title: So Hitler is dead? Thread body: When did this happen? It is obviously a joke and the only reason Hitler is mentioned is because his death is well known. Call me ignorant but I dont see how simply mentioning Hitler is offensive/hateful/racist. Am I just being stupid and is this really offensive, or was this not really suspension worthy?

This is why we should vote for our mods and be able to impeach them. I still don't get why Mr.Basil chooses mods as he has. Probably because he doesn't really care about the site as other things (not saying that's bad).
