Anyone else see the Smegas yesterday asking for cam striping

Maybe I'm just old with no sense of humor- but I'm starting to get incredibly annoyed by the shear vileness of the Smegas lately. Racist, disgusting talk. Yesterday crossed a line in my mind- I never before saw someone offering to trade mesos for nude online cam chats. If Nexon doesn't seriously do something to block Smegas or put GMs in the game to stop this behavior, it's only a matter of time before someone sends in screenshots to the authorities. They boast "92 Million" players around the world, over 6M in the US alone. That's a LOT of children- sounds like a very ripe target for a states attorney, or even one of the 520+ members of congress to try to get some free publicity by 'protecting our children'. I wonder if some screenshots emailed to Nexon CC'd to the various house of representative/senate members public emails would get their attention and finally have Nexon stop the senseless Smegas?

You know that this stuff happens in every game right, not just nexon, and fyi nexon bans the people when they see those smegas Theres nothing else to be done, they can only put a filter on so many words

Well it's not as if maplestory is meant to be like this, just immature smegas. However most children are exposed to much worse in life, so I don't think smegas in a game is something we should be worried about the most

Many people who play MS are little kids and it just feeds the problem to expose them to stuff like this. Though, it is Nexon's fault that they just don't do anything about things like this but focus on auto-banning people and whatnot...

Seeing how the person who did this was still online a long time later, it might behoove Nexon to take more serious steps. Does it impact me personally? Of course not. Might it impact Nexon? Depending on who decides to get involved, sure. Flaming, name calling, drama- that's comes with all games, fine. Even stupidly racist stuff, fine. But I really think that by having an apparent lack of GMs, Nexon may be getting into murky territory. Especially when they make money and have a financial incentive to _not_ stop people from saying outrageous stuff to every child playing (since they charge for the privilege of reaching those children). V8Ninja You ask "why ban someone who is spending money on your game"? That's a great question- but the answer is simple- because it's the right thing to do. Even if we ignore ethics, they very much have a legal obligation to do so anyways. Look at how Craig's List got into hot water recently for too much sexually explicit stuff. Also, the long-arm of the government and self-serving politicians can make life very difficult for a company that caters to kids that is seen as profiting off of child endangerment...

Wow I haven't seen this kind of maturity and intelligence in the maple community in a while. I agree with you although there is no way to completely stop swearing and all of that ( I tend to swear myself) something like that is unexcusable and neon should take action

Most, if not all of the racist/sexist language in Maplestory will get you fired in a heartbeat from any large employer in the United States (I can't speak for the rest of the world, so I won't). Most, if not all of the racist/sexist language in Maplestory will get you ostracized from just about any group of individuals with half a brain in the United States or anywhere else in the world. If you really think that this type of language is representative of the real world, I suggest you make a billboard with some of the vile crap we see every day and walk around town for a few minutes. And btw... make sure that your health insurance is paid up.

So basically, you are asking us to send in screenshots of these "smegas" to the authorities? You want us to put the heat of the authorities on this game? Remember, this is a game for enjoyment and fun, if something as small as smega is ruining it for you, stop playing. If you stop playing, then you won't have to worry about these "senseless smegas" and live a real life, with real problems, not some game crap.

I really laugh at this thread, you know, there are more things to worry about for these kids life than this mediocre video game, the TV, their friends at school, etc. That's a real problem, but you come here and worry about some dumb things that immature people say in the game, pff..
