Ability to memorize. But seriously, it sort of assures you know the content really well, simply understanding it is great - but old fashion, mind numbing memorization is very needed as well.

Depends on the person. Some tests I will just do horribly no matter what. Throughout highschool, I always did fairly bad on little assignments, for most classes anyway, and then I'd think I would fail the huge test and it would always bring my mark up. I'm surprised I never failed a class because I might have studied for 5 tests for 5 years of highschool.

Good indication of how lazy/hard working you are the few weeks before the exam. Some people can do well during the assessments before the exam, and then completely stuff up in the final exam.

No way. Take maths for example. I generally on average do really well (85% and above usually) on all of them, but when it comes to the end of semester exams, I don't do well.
