Great 1st Car?

Well I get my liscense on December 17th and it's time to start looking for a car. I am a 16 year old guy and am looking for a car that looks nice, goes fairly fast, and can be slight customized easily. Preferably 3 grand, but if it's 4 or 5 that is fine too. I'm planning on putting a sound system in it too if that helps at all. And I know a first car should be something that goes, but I'm trying to look nice. Oh, and I haven't completely mastered a stick yet so an automatic please, paddle shifters are fine though.

I believe in engine in the front, manual tranny in the middle, and rear drive in the rear. If my dad didn't do what he does, then I would definitely have bought a second hand BMW.. probably a 318, later 320, or even 325 or 330 if you have the money. 90's 5 series are good too, since they weren't so damn big back then like they've made them now.

Stay away from BMW's, Mercedes, Porcsches, Volkswagens, and Acuras. Those are the typical "Omg I want a BMW for a first car" 'cars,' but later they realize that upkeep is a nightmare. Don't try and be fancy with your first car. Who are you impressing? Just wait till you're out of college to buy your "real" first car.
