Opinion on Asian Music (Poll)

Hello fellow members of basil, My friend at school HATES K-pop, J-pop or any other kind of Asian music. His reason is that if you can't understand the song, then you can't like the song. He also does not understand why I am completely obsessed to this genre of music even though I don't understand it. (I listen to English Music as well though) I can't understand Korean or Jap or any Asian music (even though I'm Asian =S) yet I still find enjoyment when listening to the songs. So Basilers, do you think its stupid if you like a certain type of music even if you dont understand what it means?

idk. j-pop, k-pop groups are kinda dumb. but, there are korean and japanese artists that i like to listen to even if their lyrics are not understandable.

i think it's stupid to like asian girl or guy groups because they are all the same and oh so manufactured. i feel like the stuff our industry has put together is nothing compared to how bad the industry does stuff over there. :I as for asian rock groups, they tend to sound pretty similar so it's hard for me to really appreciate them too. but i do understand that people could find songs of either genre or others appealing even if they don't understand them. obviously the significance of the song is lost, but the music is still appreciated so whatever. applies to any language really, i've got asian music as well as spanish, french, and even hopelandic.

It sucks. Everything I've heard sounds like something we had here and got rid of over a decade ago only about 30x worse. I never thought it would be possible to outsuck our boy band phase but it's been done. Gimme some Backstreets Back any day. It's like they took the worst of our phase and reprocessed it.

I'm asian but I don't listen to asian music at all. I don't think it's stupid as long as it sounds good to you.

It's because mainstream kpop is all pretty much the same but there are some really good songs too. Everyone using absolutes in their posts are pretty much not being reasonable. But I get what they mean. But in regards to the TS's question, I think it's fine.

I listen mostly to music I can understand. Jason Mraz, Jack Johnson, Jake Shimabukuro, Mcfly, MCR. I listen to only ONE kpop song (Wedding dress) because it was WAY sad. That music video was freakin' heart-wrenching. Rosemaryxd No absolutes. :3
