Alright, I'm going to get this disclaimer out of the way: if anyone accuses of me of being an idiot for getting mad at a game or calls me a no-lifer for playing it/whining about this, what does that make you then, who takes time to point that out on a Maplestory message board? Secondly, it probably isn't wise to get too frustrated over a game, but this problem transcends the boundaries of an online game, as it is the people playing who are at fault; the game is merely the vehicle for this fault. With that out of the way. I digress: You people need to learn how to share. The Olivia PQ is in my mind as I type this, and its bountiful good memories are far outweighed by the travesties of the scarce bad ones. Specifically speaking, last night had me in a rage. I'm waiting for my buddies to get online to help me with the Olivia PQ. I had originally pre-planned a doll amount I would need to ensure I'd get the chair with time to spare (at least three dolls a day = one doll per round; fair enough, right?), and things were going rather well with few bumps along the path. Three days to go, 15 dolls left. No prob, right? Wrong. My friends never came on (well, one was perma-AFK it seemed), and with absolutely no time to spare (I should've been in bed anyway by this point), I attempt to PQ with--gasp!--random strangers. Now, a quick flashback: I had met those friends randomly, of course, but through the PQ, and from the moment I met them we mutually agreed: WE SHARE DOLLS. No trading loots (I had tried that earlier with one dude, he got it all and the other dude with us had just taken his third turn and gotten nothing. Not fair at all), and certainly no EVERY MAN FOR HIMSELF garbage. See, I'm in a socialistic mood I suppose when it comes to this, as we have a limit of 3x a day for the PQ and anywhere from 0-5 dolls drop, meaning trading rounds will not be fair nor balanced, and a chaotic rush for dolls is just barbaric. So eventually I find another person between 41-60--a dual blade, twas just my luck (positive and negative here, as their OP-ness makes them very beneficial to the bossing while most of them tend to be total jerks). However, he immediately starts spilling out that he "WANTS FIRST LOOT LOLOOOOLOOL" while I repeatedly say "WE SHARE DOLLS WE SHARE DOLLS WE SHARE DOLLS," cause I'm not risking any mistakes here! He eventually "agrees," and then we find a seemingly innocent third member. Good to go, right? Nope, wrong again. Once Olivia falls, they immediately pounce all over the drops, hogging up two or three precious dolls that could have benefited us all. It was my first try of the night, but I was done with this. Once bitten, twice shy had turned into thirty times bitten, thirty-once shy. I had had this happen before--in respect of people hogging everything--and I'm sick of it. It's demonstrated easily in that whenever someone drops even the stupidest item, people will immediately pick it up because they're all greedy and completely self-centered,

What you've described is the reason why I didn't get an Olivia chair last year nor did I get one this year. I kind of lack of friends (I even made a "listing" to find buddies, but haven't quite "clicked" with all of them yet) because of the long time I was away from the game, so I know for a fact that's impossible for me to go do these kind of PQs that NEED people to be civil and share and be respectful. I tried doing like 2 Alien PQs when the aliens event was on, and I got NOTHING out of them, because my nice partner would hog everything that dropped before I even noticed it had dropped... And I knew this Olivia PQ worked in a similar way and I was absolutely not interested in getting into fights with people or getting angry because of their stupidity/greediness/selfishness. :/ It's a very sad fact, but it's true. Unless you are lucky enough to find FRIENDS (people who you talk to regularly, who share a similar view on life and/or values...) to share these game experiences, it's basically better to just give up before even trying. I, for one, have grown absolutely tired of fighting with people (over maps, over drops in PQs, over trying to work as a group in PQs that require so instead of just everyone doing whatever they want and screwing the whole group up...) and... Argh. Let's just say I've been so disappointed on people, that it's part of the reason why I've quit so many times in the past. Many of the new events and things are party-oriented and, if you lack friends, like I do, they become impossible for you to enjoy them, unless you wanna go through a hell of parties and jerks and fighting and arguments and bad times, until you, MAYBE, are lucky enough to find one or two people who don't suck. :/ It's horrible and it's tiring and... Well. In time, I've come to accept this sad fact and give up trying to do these things, unless my sister is around. :P Hopefully, I'll eventually find some friends, I hope, that will help me through these things... But I agree with you. It's a jungle and, if you're not willing to be as much of a jerk as 99% of the people are, you're bond to be screwed up... Or to be alone and don't take part in these "mandatory socializing" events. :P I understand that the easiest solution for it all is "PQ with friends". But sometimes finding those friends is not so easy, which is, again, a hard proof of how rotten the community has gotten, over time. And when you lack the friends (like I do), then it's just "deal with it" and nothing else. :P Or set 3 computers and play with yourself. _U That's not how an online game is supposed to be, at least for me.

ajcv2009 basically summed up how I felt. Thank you, it's good to know someone else has experienced the same things And really guys? The whole friends thing is nice and all, but, I'm not stupid. Of course I would have PQ'd with my friends; isn't that obvious enough? Likewise, it should be obvious that I had no friends with which to PQ. I also mentioned I had friends with which to PQ, but they never got online, and making new friends obviously didn't work out. Also, just cause this is "a part of life" doesn't mean it can't be changed. I'm pretty sure it's a cultural thing (postmodernism), yet also imputed. I do appreciate the guy who mentioned the Bible though, as it does talk about this stuff, mainly how everyone's heart is deceitful and wicked above all things and how people only act for themselves. Looks like I need to brush up on my literature Gazimo :P
