My P.E Teacher says it's just a myth, but my mom, dad, uncle, friends, aunts etc say it does. I'am talking about stretches and that bar you pull down to exercise your arms and weights.

Improper use of the weight room has the potential to stunt your growth. Use techniques that your teacher should have taught/will teach you. Disc bulges are a pain in the neck (pun unintended), so don't lift more than necessary, too often, or improperly. Edit: by growth, I don't mean height wise. I know someone who had ripped a major tendon when they were twelve. Their left leg does not have as much muscle as the right, so their weight is displaced. This causes chain reaction, yada-yada-yada. Don't do drugs, stay in school, yada-yada... Have a nice evening.
zeltaxbandit : The best explanation I got when I asked this question around ppl who suposedly know was, only if you do weighted squats becasue the weight get strained on your ankles where theres a grower gland or bone and your forcing it down as it wants to go up. I have no idea f this is true but it sound convincing.
Yup that's correct. If ur still growing stick with things like Bench Press, bicep curls, Ect. Squats work on your whole body but mostly on ur legs, it actually depends on the squat. Just wait until ur older if u wanna do squats unless ur already pretty tall like 5,9+

I'm pretty sure it's only if you completely over do it, cause I know a bunch of kids since from Elementary that are extremely buff. I mean like starting at a young age (around five or something) and being able to life 250 at the beginning of middle school. I'm pretty sure you'll be fine, and to others that say it doesn't, make sure you're not talking about fifty push-ups and crunches in the morning and afternoon.

I dunno about you TC, but I'd rather trust my PE teacher that actually knows about the crap instead of random family members that don't know what they're talking about.

I would say yes, despite what anyone else says. Your muscles wouldn't be done growing and altering them in a major manner could cause it to stop growing due to finding something abnormal in the body. It also depends on the type of muscles that are being worked on, short or long.
ItzNarutosse : Idk man. I mean when you watch the olympics.. Are the weight-lifting people tall or short? You decide (cough, SHORT )
I think you mean gymnastics. And in that case, it has nothing to do with the weight room part of their training, more the aerobic and gymnast elements.

Benching stunts your growth. Im pretty sure about that. That's why I don't bench yet. People say it's a myth, but its your choice.
Citylimits : Its only true if you start lifting REALLY early in your life, if not then its good.
Truth. That's why people start lifting weights AFTER they've finished their' growth. Edit: oh wait.. What are you talking about..? Benching is a myth i think...

Lifting large amounts of weight is what stunts your growth it's caused by the pressure and strain your body goes through while lifting
ItzNarutosse : Idk man. I mean when you watch the olympics.. Are the weight-lifting people tall or short? You decide (cough, SHORT )
You want to know why? It's because they force themselves to lift amount of weights that they can't normally lift. If you don't want to be short, work your way up slowly, don't force yourself too much ex. Olympics weight lifters weight around 200-250lbs(depends on what championship weight you're going for) and they lift about 400-500lbs of weight.

It is a myth. If you lift with the correct form (this is not usually done by everyone) you will not have any issues. Form, if done incorrectly, can cause permanent damage which would inflict growth issues undoubtedly.

It is a myth, unless you overdo it. If you do it in a normal way, it won't. As long as you feed yourself correctly, you'll grow to what your genetic commands you. Nutrition is very important, in middle ages, people were so short because they didn't feed correctly. So long you live correctly, you won't stop growing. Proof? I'm 5ft 11inches.
