I would try the classic to see if it works, but it won't pop up when I click single player even though Java is turned on and is at the latest version.

My specs, I run it almost lag free: 2.7 GHz processor, 2 GB RAM, don't even have a video card that's worth mentioning, on a 5 year old laptop. I also run Maplestory almost lag free.

my computer has slightly better specs than yours (g965 integrated intel graphic card or something like that, 900mb ram, etc.) and i have to turn down the settings to low to get a decent fps (low as in highest level of fog, graphics are not fancy, etc.)

kevinccf
saddays : Yea, you won't have a problem with it. Minecraft isn't very CPU intensive. Come to think of it, maplestory is probably more CPU/GPU intensive when compared to minecraft.
I hope your joke-ing Anyways, on topic, mine craft has enough settings to work on almost any "crappy" computer, but it takes a really decent computer to run it at the best rendering speed.

IceStare I guess, because Windows Vista uses more that a gig of RAM

Yes you can IFFFF you lower the graphic setting. The game is rather intensive because of all the blocks and loading of items. With 3gbs of RAM I lag in a snowy area with no fog and 'fancy' graphics (I know that isn't impressive - but it's standard Windows 7 I guess?)
