There are always people asking, "Why do you bash nexon? They're trying their best." I think some people (such as myself) would complain about some of the upgrade patches there have been over the past few years due to the fact that it underminds all the effort we previously put into the game. This is only ONE aspect of the game's managment that irritates me. This will be a long post, but believe me it can be pages longer. A nice and small example would be: first all my friends and guildmates struggled to get arans to level 70 to get the lillin ring, and awhile later they release explorer rings that make lillin rings relatively worthless. So basically they spent all that time making a level 70 aran for nothing. That's only one example. Some of the examples (this will only include the recent ones) that personally made me lose interest in playing are: 1) Releasing 50% scrolls that are simple to get. I spent over a year scrolling my nearly perfect sky skis without those stupid fake 50%'s. I didn't pay 10-20mil per 50%, i paid 400-700mil per scroll. I didn't paid 20k NX per pams song, I had to pay 300-400mil per white scroll. There were no other options at the time and no notice that these items would ever come about. So what was the point of spending a tremendous ammount of time on making this spear when I could have made it relatively effortlessly later on? Is it that I get 2x more str? Not worth the time/money I spent. 2) Potential scrolling. This is rather self explanitory, but it made about 3/4 of my gear completely worthless (if it didn't blow it up in the first place.) I don't mind new upgrades to the game, but potential scrolling went too far. Without potentialed equips your damage is now considered horribly weak. Without something like say, (legitimently) enhanced equips, your damage is still competitive, but if you don't have potentialed gear by now, you've fallen way behind most of your peers. If I wanted to kill monsters as fast as potential scrolling (and big bang updates for that matter) will allow us to, I would have stuck in HHG1 and smacked snails for 200 levels. 3) The second half of this update has yet to hit GMS so there's no telling if it will or not, however the Blessing of Fairy skill used to only be given from Cygnus Knights, so I worked hard to get a level 120 Wind Archer as fast as I can so I can get back to training my Dark Knight (at the time.) Then, they made my WA completely worthless because I couldn't further raise the level of my BoF with that charactor, so I ended up needing a new BoF mule (made a 15x sair). Now people are talking about how they're taking away the relavence of this by doubling the blessing given by a Cygnus Knight. I still have my level 120 wind archer, so it's not so terrible. It's just the fact that I went through all of the effort of making a level 15x sair for my current level 15 BoF. In fact I know someone who got a level 200 bishop with the sole intent of getting level 20 BoF on her level 200 her

It's an ever-evolving game. There will always be new content, so it's something you should plan for and should not surprise you. Why worry about the past when you have the future to look forward to? We all have equal opportunity to enjoy the new content, so go out there and enjoy it. Get some cool potential gear, make the level 50 adventurer for the ring, grab some dark tokens and get some zombie rings, enjoy! I fail to see how anyone would want the content to be locked in place. I never want to say "My character has the best gear that will ever exist". At that point there's no point in playing anymore. I like to know that there's always a new goal to strive for right around the corner. And as for you needing to put yourself above others- I understand competition is fun. But people really shouldn't judge whether a game is fun or not by how much damage someone else can do. If you're really in it for that level of competition, then fine, enjoy the new competition! Potentials came out- so go bust your butt to get some +27% earrings! You worked hard before, so put forth that same level of effort if you have that type of competitive drive. Or, if you don't want to gather gear again, then don't complain- your existing gear didn't start doing any less damage- you can still kill the same bosses you always did! Just understand that if you walk away and come back a year from now, there will be all sorts of other new and exciting things for you to gather up then. It's what makes the game continually enjoyable for veteran and new players alike. As for your complaints about it being too 'easy'- Nexon is simply giving players what they asked for. You may have enjoyed spending countless hundreds/thousands of hours of your life to grind to 200. Others simply do not find that fun. You can't argue with that- the poll clearly shows that faster leveling was wanted far more than anything else. This is a game , it something people should do for fun . Nexon's simply making sure that the largest number of people will be able to enjoy their game.

They either make things better/easier etc for players & implement new ways to make money (*cough* cubes), or the game goes down the drain and people stop playing. There's lots of updates I don't like or agree with but they keep the game running. What they DO need to change is their customer service. If that was good, I would be fine with pretty much anything they introduced.

Hey, Nexon brought on these patches because players wanted them. 1) It wasn't intentional for newborn Arans. 4) I'm pretty sure more than 10% of 120+ players wanted faster leveling. As it isn't fast enough.

Your point is clear, i totally agree. I may not be lvl200 but i can see how big your complaint is but nexon wont even bother reading. They usually are just plain typical jerks and just go with what they think and what they think will make them more money. EDIT:If nexon doesn't change maplestory in any kind of way, the fun of it will be drained and no1 will play it, times change i guess

Once they stop attracting new people, their revenue drys up, and Nexon closes the doors on MS. That day will come eventually, but this at least keeps it alive in the meantime. That's why it's important to play for fun and not worry so much about new changes/equips/etc... It'll all go away in a few yeas anyways- so if the TS isn't playing for simple enjoyment, then they really need to reevaluate whether they should be playing anymore at all.

I just read this guy's post again and it looks like most of it is him crying about having spent a lot of time and effort on his char and having Nexon introduce things that made it easier for other people to do what he did? So what? I'm sure he took advantage of things that Nexon implemented during his leveling from 1-200 (like 2x cards, family reps, white scrolls, new weapons, new maps, etc), so why can't other people who aren't LV200 yet take advantage of other new things?

myrdrex I understand the game evolves. I just think things such as potential scrolling are WAY too big of a step. I like the idea of enhancing equips. It gives you a risky way of upgrading your gear, without it being so significant that if you don't do it you don't fall horribly behind. kop level 120 isn't a high level. It can be attained in 1 day through leeching. Heck, I have 4 charactors over level 150, one of which is 200. I have info to MULES that are level 140. It doesn't take a dedicated player to hit level 120. Hell, it doesn't take a dedicated player to get to level 150. I got from 135 to 150 in a couple of weeks without a 2x card, without grinding. I simpley bossed on 2x family buffs. It takes a dedicated player to get to 170, 180 or beyond. Those are the people whos voices should be heard. If say a restaurant is looking for insite on what people want changed on the menu, do you think they should ask customers that only come by once a year, or should they ask the customers that come by once a week? edit: billionaire I'm aware perks were made in my favor. But no one made it to 200 without 2x cards, and few without 2x buffs. white scrolls were around before anyone hit 200, but were just incredibly rare, same with my weapon (sky skis.) My point isn't to complain about how peopel these days have it easier then I do. It's to complain that things I HAVE done have been made completely worthless. What's to say nexon won't do it again?
Returning an adequate return to their shareholders in indeed a top priority of any company (public or private). Without said profits, we wouldn't have a game to play at all. Besides- they aren't simply doing what they feel like, look at how content is added to KMS and tweaked based off the users responses. When they mess up, they give 'compensation', an even re-ran the adventurers event when it got cut short due to a rollback. It's simply not true to say that they ignore their customers- they wouldn't be so profitable if that was true.

I feel your pain, somewhat. The BB is going 2 inflict alot of pain to 90% of the char's i made, that's a lot of time gone to waste. Still i feel your pain

Many posters seem to be confusing the fact that updating the game, and making the game easier are two completely different things. You can absolutely have one without the other.

Oh wait, 160+ isn't a high level too, my apologies. Darn Naruto, you should read before you type! In my opinion, leeching isn't dedication. It doesn't take any effort at all to level your character. I partially agree with you for that point. However, can I still be a dedicated player that gains experience to level to 120+ without leeching? I probably can, right? And with the new potential and enhancement system, it's even more easier to take an 'undedicated' player beyond 170. Should their voices still be heard? To answer your analogy, I would ask all customers for their insight. A customer who comes once a year could possibly be a food critic.
SlovakHocky : Many posters seem to be confusing the fact that updating the game, and making the game easier are two completely different things. You can absolutely have one without the other.
But when the majority of people want the game to have faster leveling, and crave new and better equips, then the updates should include making it 'easier'. Look, I understand how people feel that the new xp curve and potential equips means they've wasted countless hours of their lives. If they were only playing to somehow feel tough in an online game, well, then yeah, they are right, their time was wasted. But that's just pathetic- if they weren't having fun, it was insane to play that much to begin with. If they were playing the game because it was fun, then they had their fun- the new updates can't possibly detract from the countless hours of enjoyment they had! I know I personally play because I like the game while I'm playing it. Nothing that happens in the future can possibly diminish the enjoyment I'm having right now. If cool new level 160 weapons come out, I won't feel bad in the least that I spent a lot of time and effort obtaining my 120 equips- because I've been enjoying them. To feel otherwise shows a skewed sense of perspective in ones viewpoints on a leisure activity like this game.

I would rather know what the people that come in once a week think rather then a food critic. The critic isn't the one eatting the food often. I want to know what the people who eat it often want. As for your other points, they are pretty good ones. There are dedicated people that are 120+ and there are people that are 170+ that aren't dedicated. I'm not saying these people should be overlooked, but I think that if you think about the percentages you'll find that most (not all) of the people wanting faster leveling fall into the group of undedicated people that are looking for the easiest way to the highest level. The dedicated 120+ people are proud of their accomplishments, and probably wish to go further at their own pace. If they cared about how difficult it was, they wouldn't have made it as far as they did.
