What Could It Possibly Be?

Well, basil, I have a question. My girlfriend has recently gained nearly 40 pounds and she is freaking out like no tomorrow. The weird thing about this is, she eats healthy, eating plenty of carrots and low fat yogurts when she does not eat a full coarse meal (like for snacks). She has also taken two pregnancy tests, both of which have come out to be negative. Now, we have no idea what could have caused her to gain 40 pounds, in only a few weeks for that matter. Could there be something wrong with her? Like does she have some type of sickness or something? I'd appreciate serious answers only, basil. (Yes, I know, Basil and serious answers? Ha.)

If you eat too much "healthy" food, you're still gonna get fat. 2 dry pounds of yogurt is just as fattening as 2 dry pounds of a cheeseburger (which would make for a very large one).

Puberty? No seriously how old are you guys? I remember when I was in highschool, I used to wait for the bus with these several other skinny white girls at the bus stop and after summer break coming into sophomore years, those girls all came back round and obese...and they stayed that way throughout all the way to graduation and beyond i assume and they were pretty fit too before their fat disabled them from certain sports and activities..

That sounds amazingly freaky. Since you were wise enough to put in that serious answers only bit, I'd guess that it has something to do with an imbalance of hormones, or something wrong with her thyroid gland

40 lbs. in a couple of weeks would be a mind boggling topic in the medical field especially if a doctor passed her off as 'healthy.' Either she didn't weigh herself correctly or she had some serious swelling of the glands and integumentary system I don't see how thats possible. But on the other hand if this is true I would recommend consulting her doctor for a CT and MRI scan to be safe.
