hey all, anyway, I have a big question about octopus and gaviota. Since both are going to be maxed anyway using the newtie build, which is actually more helpful? before I go on, does gaviota only throw 1 bomb? or keeps throwing bombs till the timer runs out? If i am correct, gaviota constantly throws bombs AND it has more the 2x the power. so y doesn't everyone max gaviota before octopus? am I in the wrong? thanks

When you summon gaviota, it will fly around for a few seconds before dropping it's bomb on a monster. Once it drops the bomb, it flies away (disappears). The bomb CAN hit more than one monster if they are grouped closely (it deals some "splash" damage). Basically, it's an extra attack that you can't control WHAT it hits, or even WHEN it actually hits. Octopus on the other hand will be summoned for X number of seconds, and will "spit" at the monsters every Y seconds. So in summary: Gaviota: Hits one target at random, could be on a different platform, deals splash damage, bomb does more damage than one spit from octopus Octopus: Stationary, hits one target at a time, spits many times before it disappears, not much vertical range. I would recommend going with Octopus first as each time you summon it, it will end up doing more damage over time than your single-shot gaviota. EDIT: The number of seconds that it lists for Gaviota (30 seconds at max level) is the maximum time it will fly around looking for an enemy. Gaviota always takes a few seconds to drop the bomb (2-4 seconds) regardless of whether you're standing in the middle of a mob, or there are only monsters at the edge of your screen. Since Gaviota RARELY ever takes more than about 6-8 seconds to drop the bomb (for it to take this long, there have to be very few monsters visible on your screen!), you can pretty much ignore the maximum time limit thing. The only time it really comes into play is if you're having fun and summoning a flock of birds in the Free Market / town, lol. Then, with a 30 second long gaviota, you can have like 4 of them flying around at once. Also, I forgot to mention that Gaviota will fly around on your screen (typically somewhere farther up than wherever you were standing when you summoned it), and will *NOT* care where you are. You just kinda let it go fly on it's own erratic flight path, rather than most summons that stick near you as you move.

i didnt find either to be real helpful, but if i had to choose...octo is better because it stays out for 30secs when maxed while the birdy flies away xD

Yeah, I personally haven't gotten to the point where I can train at Newties efficiently, but I would definitely go octo first. Gaviota really only attacks once, and is rather useless at Newts, because you can't control it's flight path. Octos, on the other hand, summon right in front of you, and if the monster is in range, attacks it multiple times, until it disappears.
