Too late to start Final Fantasy?

I know theres about 13 games in the series, and it has a really long story line and stuff. I really like these kind of games though, and I was wondering if it would be extremely difficult to get Final Fantasy 1-13 on a game console (PS3 or Xbox 360 Slim)

Final Fantasy games aren't related to each other story-wise. There are a few exceptions, such as the recent remakes of old games, the X-2 series (continuing off X), and the VII boat (Crisis Core, Advent Children, Dirge of Cerberus), but for the most part you shouldn't have to worry about getting them in order. Consider each one to be a completely different game.

it's not worth it the first few suck hard, and plenty of them have dumb battle systems. if you don't really mind that, 4 is my favorite despite the battle system faults and crappy end portion of the story. and i figure more recent ones (X, XIII) are better but i haven't touched the series in a while except for FFT/A/A2.

Most are worth it. IMO 5&6 are the highlights of the 64(I think) generation (dl visualboy or something to play on your computer), the entire Playstation 1 generation was great, 10 was overall decent. You either like or dislike 13. Deciduous TS already said he liked these types of games, so I'd assume he likes turn based battle systems (as do many other people, mind you)

Dude Final Fantasy is the BEST SERIES EVER by far. Ever. Just download an Emulator like ZSNES and play 2 and 3. or 4 and 6 in japan, but dont download the japanese versions unless ur japanese. After that get a PS1 emulator and get 7. those are the top 3 games of my childhood. Fo real.

Deciduous TS already said he liked these types of games, so I'd assume he likes turn based battle systems (as do many other people, mind you) [/quote] i don't have anything against turn-based systems per se, i just don't think early FF games had very good ones. as far as the PS2/PS3 generation has gone, i've watched some LPs as well as talked to friends and so i've got a grasp of what i see as faults they've made. so i'll admit i lack some firsthand experience but whatever.

Well you don't need ps1 since most of them have been remade for ds and such.. But imo XIII was kinda of a disappointment :P

The only Final Fantasy games you need to play is X, 7, and the new one that game out.

Final Fantasy 9 is nostalgia waiting to happen, 4 discs of an amazing plot. I know ff7 is good too, but it's got too much emo/mommy problems.

The games are separate. The must plays are 7-9, but I honestly don't think they're all that good (9 is okay, 8 is interesting, 7 is overrated beyond all holy hell) My favorite is 10. Some of the earlier ones are good in a kitschy sort of way.

7 over rated! you gotta have been there at the time. dude it was FINAL FANTASY when there was no FINAL FANTASY in America. 7 was the whole reason the series got kicked into high gear out here. 2 and 3 were like ice breakers. 7 was like OMG CUT SCENES! I wanna go buy a PS now and play it lol.
