Have you ever read the Bible ?

Have you guys read the whole Bible from cover to cover ? I tried it once and I was really overwhelmed by the numbers of years how long the people lived and stuff .. I'm gonna attempt it again soon ..

The years are meant for historical purposes for the Judaic tribes and to keep track of genealogies (cultural thing), so they're not very important unless you really want to delve into the history of the Jews. Otherwise, it's a fairly straight-forward document of myths that displays various basic human emotions, conflicts of good vs. evil, and provides some practical advice. NT is a bit harder since now faith and works have to be differentiated, but Paul makes a fairly concise case for Christian Theology. Bottom line: focus on themes rather than numbers.

[/quote] Well put; exactly what my religion 8 teacher taught me except in a simpler way. I myself haven't read the whole Bible. I am christian, I just despise the small type and footnotes with all my being. Some parts of the Bible make me chuckle, though. Fiery revolving sword guarding the tree of life in Genesis...

Why does someone always have to start a religion topic, It's really getting annoying especially when you're in a forum full of ignorant kids.
