I have been thinking hard on the "Perfect Build" for a I/L mage instead of the typical builds. Alot of peole talk about not maxing TS becus of spark in 4th job to max every other skill in 3rd job, but i think this build makes the most sence: If you guys noticed TS, Comp, and Ice Strike with 28 SPs is only 4 base attack less than maxing them. Using the DMG calculator to see what the 4 points difference makes is like 35-50 dmg difference (higher as you get higher level of course). Maxing Comp, TS, and IS at level 28 allows this build. Levels 70-120 = total of 151 SPs IS level 28, 123 SPs left 11 Booster, 112 SPs left Comp level 28, 84 SPs left Max AMP level 30, 54 SPs left TS level 28, 26 SPs left Max booster (9 SPs), 17 SPs left Now you have 17 points left and Seal and PR left. From here you can do what ever you want. 10 points into Seal, and 7 into PR or what ever combo you want. Now for the people that says level 28 Skill are dumb listen to this. At level 77 I can do about 6800 DMG to a Red drake is 2 hits with Cold Beam. That is 800more DMG than I needed to kill it, this happens with almost every monster we train on. it might take you 20 hits to kill a Death Teddy with IS but if you add up all the DMG that 20th hit will add up to at least 500+ more DMG than you needed to kill it. I say all that to say, the 4 less points you get for maxing your skills at level 28 instead of 30 will make like a 100 point difference in Damage, 100 DMG you wouldn't have needed to kill the monster anyway. With this build you can max IS, TS, and Comp at level 28, MAX AMP and Booster 100% and still have 17 SP to share anyway you want between PR and Seal, and since both are almost never maxed for I/L mages that is more than enough points to share. This way you wont have to totally rid of TS, and this is the build Im going by 100%.

stillllishI would use 6 of those 17 points to max my attacking skills -_- I see where you're coming from, but then again, I don't like it. If it works for you thats great, but I would much rather have maxed attacking skills than to be able to dump a few extra points in Seal.

not only seal but also PR, and you dont need those extra points in your attacking skills to kill anything, it will still take you the same amout of hits to kill your target, so your basically throwing away SP's, and with 17 points you can have 10 Seal which is a 65% rate for 15 secs. and 7 PR which is 41% Ice and lighting resistance, and seal will be very important for Spark training seeing how it is a mob attack, and you will be pissing off up to 6 enemies at a time.

stillllishWhy on earth would I want 7 PR? Those extra points are needed and can be the difference in extra hits. Again I can see what would make you think this is a good idea, but I don't see it as one. I definately don't look at maxed attacking skills as points "thrown away".

If your one of the people that think PR is useless then you can max seal. and 41% resistance is alot, that is almost half the dmg you will be taking from I/l attacks, and bosses use I/L attacks and so do some of the new monsters in the new towns. I just used the Damage Calc. on Hidden- Street With lvl 28 IS i will kill a Death teddy in 16 hits With lvl 30 IS I will kill a Death teddy in 16 hits you have to look at 4th job also, unless you have no intension of making it that far. With PR and mana reflection, and seal, we will take almost no damage making us save loads of money and less risk of dying

Thunder Spear (I like to write out the name =]) Is VERY useful on Bosses, a section you did not even cover. Lets see an Ex. stillllishYeah ummm... still not getting it. Mages have to spend a lot of money to get the damage boost from their equips, and in another thread you made you made a point to mention your equips. What is the point of paying extreme amounts of money for a few extra int any way you can get it when you are depriving yourself of the single biggest source of damage mages get (skill base attack.) I can't see the logic. If this is how you veiw it then why not go sell all of your equips and buy things like a glowing whips and sake bottles... because onbviously damage isn't a factor here.

AbyssalSheepErr, if you have 17 points left to spare, and you're only getting 10 Seal like most people, wouldn't those 6 SP be more useful to max TS, IS anc Composition? PR is useless anyway.
