I submitted a guide to the guide page! Please make further comments there. The Potential Guide I've seen a lot of threads on Basil asking about potential: what it is, how to get it, what the difference between different types is... I want to help everyone out and let you know exactly what potential is, and how you can benefit from it. Table of Contents 1) What the Heck is Potential? 2) Getting Potential Gear 3) Revealing Your Potential 4) Tiers of Potential 5) What's the Difference Between 2-line and 3-line Potentials? 6) Miracle Cubes 7) What's the Difference Between Potential Scrolls and Enhancement Scrolls? 8) Conclusion 1) What the Heck is Potential? Potential is a way to get items that are far more powerful than their regular counterparts. An item with potential has extra stats listed on the bottom on the item description; these stats are in addition to the regular stats. Because the bonus stats are added to the original, the chance for incredibly powerful items is much higher than if you just scrolled the equip. 2) Getting Potential Gear There are two main ways to get a potential item. The first and most common way is to hunt monsters and collect any equips that may drop. If you're lucky, those equips will have potential, which you can then reveal with a magnifying glass (more on that in a bit). You can tell if an equip has potential because the item in your inventory will have a pink border around it, and there will also be a message in your chatbox saying "You have obtained an item with hidden potential." Now, that's great for hunting items, but what if you have an equip that's already awesomely scrolled? Here's where the second method comes in: potential scrolls. Potential scrolls are special drops from any monster in the game (except monsters in New Leaf City and Singapore/Malaysia) . There are two types of scroll: a regular Potential Scroll, and an Advanced Potential Scroll. The only difference between the two is that the chance of success for the regular is 70%, and the chance for the Advanced is 90%. All you have to do is use the scroll on one of your equips - if it succeeds, your item now has hidden potential! Be careful, though - if the scroll fails, your item automatically blows up. That's not a percent chance of blowing up... if it fails, it booms. End of story. So don't use the scrolls on items you don't want to lose. 3) Revealing Your Potential So, you've got an equip with hidden potential... Now what? You've got to reveal what the bonus stats are before you can use them. This is very easy to do. Head on over to any potion shop. Near the bottom of their selection, you will notice you can purchase magnifying glasses, with types ranging from basic to advanced. Each type determines how high a level of an equip you can reveal potential for. Example: Let's say you've got a level 40 glove with potential. You can't use a basic magnifying glass, because those only work on items level 30 or below. An Average one will do, though. To use

not to be picky, level 70 pants can't get 9% maybe you should change that, at least not 9% in 1 line. Also for your tiers, just a suggestion but, you should put in job advancement ranges... Tier 1 = 1st job advancement range 1-30 Tier 2 = 2nd job advancement range 31-70 Tier 3 = 3rd job advancement range 71-120 Tier 4 = 4th job advancement range 121+ If you would like, i could send you a list of all possible stats to get on each line. For example for a stat like str, the formula for the %str is Rare = (Tier/jobadv range) * 1 Epic = (Tier/jobadv range) * 2 Unique = (Tier/jobadv range) *3 so a level 90 unique pants would be in the 3rd job advancement range at rare: 3 * 1 = 3 % at epic: 3 * 2 = 6% at unique: 3 * 3 = 9%

I was thinking about the Neos bottoms when I wrote this, I'm not sure why I put level 70 pants... O_o Thanks for the catch, I'll change that. I do have the tiers listed, though I didn't make the connection to job advancements. I suppose I can add a sentence in there to clarify that.

I know by heart that Decent HB adds 40% HP/MP and that Decent Mystic Door sets up a door for yourself for 120 seconds for 2 magic rocks. @TS: Some thing you could note: all the Decent Skills are solo use only.

Thanks to everyone who gave feedback, and keep it coming! I want to make this guide the best I can.

Items that are 2 lined can go to 3 lined. Same goes for vise-versa. I would like some proof that it isn't possible for a two lined potential to become three. Edit: I'm not sure if a 3 lined item can become a 2 lined, but I know for a fact a 2 lined potential can become three.
