How important are graphics in a video game?

How important are they to you? Personally, I don't care much. It's nice when I get to see these really vivid graphics, but I'd still play the game if it less. My cousin, on the other hand, refuses to play transformice because of the graphics. EDIT: My cousin is also 15.

I consider it to be a pretty major factor in a game but I'd still play something with innovative gameplay even if it had bad graphics.

Well, good graphics is definitly a bonus to every game. However, I would never judge a game by it's graphics, but I probably would rather buy a game with better (LoZ:TP graphics are already enough to please me though) graphics.

It's a factor. But it really isn't important. But it doesn't hurt for the game to have good graphics.

Lol. Graphics are so unimportant to me, that I can go play ocarina of time any day and have fun with it. But I have a different view for the next gen consoles, hear me out on this. If its a new system like a ps3 or an xbox 360, which both have the POTENTIAL to put out amazing graphics, then I believe developers should take some time to take advantage of that. For example, this game called Disgaea 3 on the ps3. The ps3 has such potential for good graphics, and even though disgaea has always been 2-D, NIS could have gone the extra mile and put in Super hi-res sprites. Instead, they gave us the normal old sprites, and environments that don't look as appealing as I think they could have done. And when you have games like Twilight Princess on the Wii having not so amazing graphics, I think that is bearable.

I think gameplay > story (this sorta depends on the game) > music > graphics. Nice graphics are a little bonus.

Also, I think my cousin was comparing Tranformice to games like Assassins Creed 2. Yeah..

For me, gameplay > graphics. There are some really fun and enjoyable simple graphic games.

Graphics are the last thing on my mind when i buy a game. Although it IS nice to see graphical updates on classic games every now and then. I remember buying Final fantasy 4 for the ds and thought the graphics were absolutely amazing, but then my friend who is a graphic whore totally dogged it out up and down. On another note, music is the most important aspect of a game. If a game has horrible music, and the best graphics, gameplay in the world, i simply cant get into it.

Depends on the genre, and the reputation the company has. If it's CoD, then I'd expect some nice graphics, but if it's Mario, I'd expect nice graphics, but not garbage. Really, idc about graphics much.
