patrick20393I see Aran's using Combat Step followed by a jump. I was wondering what was the purpose of this, it seems like it would slow you down when traveling. I have also heard that it is easier to master this if CS was assigned to a macro, is this true?

It speeds you up, since there is a 'cool-down' to combat step. The boost of the CS makes you jump further? (I think) EDIT: And you get to CS again around when your jump finishes.

Lol it's called combat jumping & its a faster way movement than any wolf you'll ever get if you learn how to master.

yes, alot of arans do this because it makes them go WAY farther, if done correctly, it can rival flash jump. i have done some that go wat beyond and some that have just been useless jumps. Master CombatJumping and then your aran will be wicked fast!

patrick20393So basically, we gotta have right timing so that right after the CS, we hit jump. And when we land, we can again hit CS, and then the process repeats? I have also heard that it is easier to master this if CS was assigned to a macro, is this true?

its not assigning cs to a macro, you assign it to a key o-o basicly you jump while you are halfway through the boost of the cs and the boost in the air is like a mini flash jump

SilverFoxRBasicly, the way Combat Step works is that for a brief second, you shoot forward. However, being in contact with the ground slows you right down quickly afterwards (almost instantly if you have snowshoes on). What Arans have learned to do is to jump while they still have Combat Step's momentum. This lets them keep moving at the same speed they were on the ground with nothing getting in their way (until they land). Think of it like a slightly better, yet slightly more complicated Flash Jump. Also, watch an Aran without snowshoes on in El Nath. It's quite impressive... they don't have to jump, but they go flying around the map at mind-boggling speed!

I thought you can only do it with hacks? I tried a lot on my aran, but it doesn't work.

It may be harder for others to do if they are simply double-tapping the left/right arrow keys. It's a bit easier when one puts the combat step skill as a macro and setting the macro to a key rather than double-tapping the left/right arrow keys to use the skill.

It's easiest if CS is maxed out and you assign it to a hotkey. What you do is you press the hotkey for CS and without touching the arrow keys at all, jump after. If you do press the arrow keys while you jump, you won't be propelled and instead, you'll jump in the same place you landed. It's weird to explain...
Super333 : I thought you can only do it with hacks? I tried a lot on my aran, but it doesn't work.
NO hacks are involved in performing a C-Dash (Combat Step + Jump). This video teaches you how to do it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jjdaogj9Fg0&feature=related Btw, C-Dash is VITAL when you are training at Skeles/ToT. You have to master it.
JayDDexless : ==" cs beating fj? Have you seen max haste & fj?
In maps that have slippery ground (El Nath for example), C-Step OVERKILLS Max Haste and Flash Jump. No kidding.

Something to note: if you see an aran using CSJ to a point that it is better even competes with flash jump, this aran IS HACKING.
