Why is there racism?

There is racism all over the world. Sure every race has its pro's and con's but why do we make it such a big deal? I'm getting tired of seeing people getting picked on and being called by something bad of their race. So why? Why is there racism in the world.

Judgment and discrimination. It is human nature to single out people with different qualities than "average" people have. For example, if you achieved something extraordinary in the Middle Ages, you would get accused of witchcraft. At school, if you were different, you would get singled out just for not sticking to the norms. Also, there are infamous and notorious members of certain races that have done heinous crimes all over the world, and when people see another person that looks just like the criminal, they will constantly refer to that criminal and make it a stereotype.
