and you wake up outside of your house with a bottle of water, a 9mm pistol with 2 clips, and a can of ravioli. What are your first steps to survival? Personally, I'd just walk around and cry.

Search through my house for useful things that weren't damaged. (Tools, Extra Water, Containers, Food, A Backpack/Bag) Walk to the nearest fresh water supply. Set up a shelter. Camp there to wait for other survivors.

O_O...Go around town look for a fishing rod a WHOLE bucket of worm's... Then go to the dock's get a boat with the keys still inside :P get about 100 gallons of fuel :P set course for a small island no one knows about... fish for food and try and purify water threw my shirt... :P SURVIVAL :P

Let's just assume my house was made of lead so that I was protected from the radiation and its halflife was extremely short or the blast was elsewhere. I'd get all the extra lead I could find to protect myself from radiation (make like shoes or something) then I'd check for survivors in my neighborhood and procees to break into and raid stores for food and ammo and anything else I need.

A living conduit of radiation that is not effected by radiation, only healed by it. I would live my life drinking and eating everything irradiated.
