Is getting a new iPod Touch worth it?

Well, I'm finally fed up with my current iPod. It's a first generation iPod Touch, with a battery life of about a day, laggy, no mic or anything, so all in all it's pretty bad. Well know I want to get one of the new iPod Touches with the camera's and retina display and whatnot, but I'm wondering if it's worth it. I've got just about $500 in my savings account, with no current income. So with $500 to last me for a year or two, should I get one? And if so, the 8, 32, or 64 gig?

i dont think 32gb is even needed. unless you're gonna stock up on movies, and a BUNCH of music. and there's apps. but still. 32gb is a lot...

Ugh, I'm getting mixed results. I'm confused. PinapplePoPo I'm fine with everything phone-wise. I don't need an iPhone.

[/quote] My music exceeds the capacity of the 8gig itouch and on top of that I have movies... I have an iTouch 3g the 32gb one and personally I'm fine with it. If you need an iPod that just plays music and movies well mainly music go for a classic, it'll last much longer. Otherwise go for the new 32gig iTouch.

[/quote] Don't rely on basil for the final decision, as many users just flat out don't like apple and will say no just because. While this new iPod touch's camera is awful for taking pictures, it's not really meant for that, it's more for video taking and video calling on the go. With all these things plus no real competitor (zune HD?) this is definitely a good buy. Again, I'd get the 32GB for music and movies and for apps, with the retina display the apps are getting (a bit) bigger in size and there's just so much you're gonna download haha. Then again if for some reason you'd rather get something else, I'd reccommend this Sony walkman , it's a great media player that only does music, video and photo, nothing else but if that's only what you want, I guess this would be your next option. It's not any cheaper anyway. (Actually more expensive, 16GB for $299)

32GB for $300 USD? Because if that is you are getting ripped off. Here in AUS i can get a 32GB for $150. So if i were you, import a 32GB from here.

Get a 8GB One. Really. It is Enough! And you don't have that much money to spend! I have a 2nd Gen iPod Touch with 8GB and never had any problems with music coudn't fit on it. Just don't watch movies on it, or just watch it, and then remove it. It's that simple. Really, go for an 8GB please! You'll have $270,- left for other things! :D
