DON'T HATE on Mainstream music!

Reason :Mainstream artist know that it takes more then a few fans to make a living that's why indie bands/artist like Muse, Florence and the machine, kid cudi, drake, owl city decided to get more famous by having there songs in movies/ doing performances at award shows. So for people hating mainstream or indie artist that go mainstream are lame you should think "Is it really bad that my fav artist wants to make more money?"

I don't hate on mainstream. It all depends on the song/artist, not if they're popular or not. People who hate mainstream are just idiots.

You're trying to fight FOR mainstream in chat, notorious in my book for being "hipsters"? Good luck. In my opinion, it only takes luck and a good voice changer to make it big mainstream. Talent makes up like 20% of a popular singer's career. I don't get the people that dislike Indie-Gone-Big bands/singers, since I mean... they were Indie and you clearly liked them before. Sellouts would be the only word that comes to mind.

i think you're talking more about a band "selling out" than a band being mainstream. Being mainstream means they create music that is played on the top 40 and is famous for consisting of little more than a catchy hook and strong rhythm that is repetitive and simple to understand. "Selling out" is when a band that had a small, but loyal following changes their music in order to be more mainstream and no longer retains their unique sound.

I don't hate mainstream, I just think artists should make music for the satisfaction and expression rather than doing it all for the $$$. But I guess that gives them more money to give to charity doesn't it, if that's what they're in to.

[/quote] Lets be honest people LIKE auto tune it sounds awesome to me. same If there was a way to make me play MW2 better I WOULD USE IT! So I don't blame them for using auto tune. I GUARANTEE on the itunes top 10 at LEAST 5 of them are auto tuned songs, Usher, Black eyed peas, sean kingston etc.

I dont hate! Just sometimes they do become different. Anberlin(yes my favorite band) became mainstream and they are still great
