Disagreeing with your parents.

This occurred last Saturday . It was dinner time, and we were watching the news. The news was talking about how a church isn't being rebuilt since the 9/11 terrorism incident destroyed it. My father goes on to ramble about how the government is funding the 'mosque at Ground Zero' also known as the Islamic Center two blocks away from Ground Zero. I told him that the government wasn't funding the 'mosque', and that it was a community center. He shouted: " NO. The government is funding the mosque. Don't talk back. I know these things, I listen to the radio station everyday. " (biased Christian radio station always giving out anti-Islam & anti-gay propaganda I'm forced to listen to whenever I'm in the car.) Anyway, I told him that he was wrong - It's not being funded by the government, etc. etc. Then my mom butts in telling me that Muslims are going to take over North America. She also told me I shouldn't tolerate terrorism. I said it won't, and that I don't tolerate terrorism, I accept other people, despite their religion. My father then starts talking, ranting about how I should go become a Muslim if I 'accepted' them so much. Then my mom brings in this argument about how I would tolerate gays, comparing Muslims with homosexuals. (Ugh.) She started ranting about how I shouldn't tolerate their sin . I tuned her out with my dad. Then I heard them saying that they will 'pray' for me, and so that God will lead me down some path of complete bigotry. Are any of your parents like this? |: Do you tune them out?

You have overly religious parents. This is why I'm agnostic. Well, I never tune my mother out when she says she prays for me because it reminds me that she cares.

I would hate to have super religious parents. My dad always thinks he's right about pretty dumb topics, and he's wrong almost all the time. He acts like he's the smartest guy ever, & when I correct him sometimes he flips out o-o =/

Lol my dad is kind of like that, the other day he was watching Glenn Beck and he said "todays major issue is obama" and my dad was like "Ya, the major issue is he's still breathing". LOL
