| VINDICTUS IS OPEN Hello Basil, come one come all to the Official Vindictus Discussion Thread! I'll be updating this thread with more info shortly. For now, post your thoughts on Vindy. Need a Beta Key? Check out this thread. Got more questions? Check out the FAQ What IS Vindictus? What's it about? For those of you who don't know, Vindictus is a new MMORPG developed by Devcat studios and published by Nexon, based off of the world of Mabinogi. Don't know anything about Mabinogi? Doesn't matter; the backstory is neat and interesting, but it's all easy enough to simply jump right in and immerse yourself in the rich storyline. Vindictus is a prequel to Mabinogi, taking place during the great battle between the Fomors (prounced: Foh-More) and the great Heroes of Mabinogi. That's you, the Hero. Neat, but how's the gameplay? While Mabinogi was kind of like WoW meets Animal Crossing, Vindictus is kind of like God of War meets..well Mabinogi. The game is fast paced and intense, relying on a versatile combo and skill system. Like many games with combo systems, you can alternate between slashing and smashing, using combos with a mixture of these (slash, slash, smash, or slash, slash, slash smash). There's also a skill tree, which you can spend AP (earned from Dungeons/Missions) to learn new skills to use in combat. Some are combat skills, some are defensive skills. All around makes for very solid fighting system. The environment is completely (almost) destructive, and runs off of the Half Life 2 Source Engine, meaning all enemies and objects have ragdolls. This also means that they can all be thrown. At each other. Grapples and throws are extremely potent, it's possible to clear a full dungeon without so much as drawing your weapons. You can also play it with a Game Controller, as shown in these guides: http://www.basilmarket.com/forum/1708564/0/Deadx123s_Guide_to_Playing_Vindictus_with_a_PS3_controller.html# http://www.basilmarket.com/forum/1709317/0/The_Official_Xbox_360_controller_with_Vinditcus_THREAD.html# Alright cool, but that sounds pretty graphic intensive... It is, but thankfully the good old pals at Nexon included a quality changer. The graphics of the game can be toned down, allowing even slower computers to run it fine (though slightly grainier). Even with quality all the way down, the graphics are pretty impressive and the game play doesn't lose out any. When you put quality to max and your account is over 18, the game has blood. Yay! Minimum System Requirements: CPU: Single Core 2.4 Ghz RAM: 512MB Geforce 5xxx series(256) 5GB of free hard drive space Recommended System Requirements: CPU: Dual Core or Higher RAM: 1GB Geforce 7xxx series(512) 6GB of free hard drive space Now, recommended is to run on Normal quality. I personally have much better hardware than is listed, but I still can't run it on max quality without a little choppiness here or there. I heard something about character classes? That's right, this game does have character classes |
