Yep, level 108, and I either got lazy or lost motivation for the revered 4th job. I acknowledge the fact that I can take a break from Maplestory, but there's the motivation to get to 120 (4 of my friends, who we used to be level 100 together, now are 120). As you might know, my equips aren't top notch , as I'm fairly new to Maple, and I started this Ranger with no funding.(So training might be 20% slower than the funded archer) I understand this question is subjective, but how long would it take me to get to 120 on 1x(For expendable purposes)? If my question is hard to answer, how long did it take YOU to get to 120, starting from 108? (Something exact please, not like "5 months", but like "27 hours of grinding on 2x on *monster*") Would Nightshadows be a good training spot to 120, or should I go to a Newtie party (Hard to find someone to party with though in Galicia)?

I became demotivated at 105 for different reasons, but we are in the same boat nonetheless. I posted a topic earlier about where to train from 105-120, and basically the two best options were Typhons and Jr Newtie parties. Nightshadows are just a sexy option there's no true benefit in fighting spaced mobs that pack such a vicious punch. They are quick and can jump onto your sniping spot. Avoid motion combat as much as possible, stick to Jr Newties or mobbing Typhons on some kind of EXP bonus event. If you want to chat with your buddies and experience nostalgic grinding, try the barrel at Galloperas. (Bad EXP but incredibly easy. Spam Arrow Rain, say Hi, repeat)

I was 107 the beginning of August, and now I'm 119 today. I mainly did 1x except for rep and events, and I skipped a lot of those. And I never grinded more than 2~3 hours a day, and I was probably only on about 2~3 days of the week on average. So it probably took me around 30-40 hours at Newties (some partied, others soloed) and various alternatives. To be realistic, if you 1x on Newties from your level, I'm seeing about 70+ hours worth of training to get to 120. =S Probably around 50ish if you have a good party most of the time. To answer your Nightshadow question, I find that soloing there is faster than soloing Newties, that is if you know how to properly train there. I really want to try partying there though, but I for some reason no one likes it there on my server. =P Good luck getting to 120.

The most common methods of going from 108-120 for rangers are skele leeching and JNPT (Jr Newties Party). Assuming your current status, you probably won't be leeching. Even if you were, there won't be a significant exp increase when comparing JNPT with skeles, since rangers level THAT FAST. But even JNPT will get slow. By the content of your post, I would assume you constantly train on 1x. For me, I'm spoiled as hell. Never train unless it's 4x. Well, that's probably because 4x is of convenience to me all the time. Probably not so for you. To get to 120, I would believe it to be hell on earth going on constant 1x. If you are in search of motivation, all I can give you is this. Find the time where you can grind for 4 hours, or hours equivalent to the number of 2x cards you can afford. 2k nx may seem like a fortune to many, but even if I only had 30m left in my account, I'd spend it on the 2x card. It's really worth it, and you probably won't regret buying one. Along with that, use reps. I'd assume that the sudden change of 1x to 4x -even if it's only 4 hours of 2x/4x, it'd be enough motivation to keep you going.

I would solo Newties and if people come make sure you have HS or people to take bottom/top. If you have hawk I would take bottom platform and strafe at the nest golems. I been training there since 98 and it is very boring but I been playing since 2005 and occasionally take breaks from Maple. The group I originally played with are now all 17x and I just recently gotten to 120. To be motivated to reach Bowmaster is just the fun of shooting hurricane while walking as if you can push anything aside, nothing to slow you down. This allowed me to train but school started and I am currently on break from Maplestory. What I would do though if I were you is get a Family/Junior to give you rep points. Doing this allows max of 1hour and 15 minute of 2x exp and if you party you could get even their party 2x exp at Jr.Newties/Nest Golem. Training there is lazy work but you should level around 1-2 hour on 1x and halved the time on 2x. 2x Exp Rep + 5 hour 200% exp/3rd monster + Saturday's Party bonus exp(2x) + HS is really fast exp compared regular 1x. If anything you might level within 15 minutes as I did during DB 2xexp event + 2x exp card + ring mule. I'm normally a solo ranger , when I was your level and didn't rely on Party and I still leveled pretty fast. If I grinded for 4 hours, it was possible to level 2-3 times.

uhm actually the best exp for newties is always the middle plat: here's how stand just in front of first jr. newtie and behind second newtie, dump a puppet in front of third. ur hawk keeps first jr. newtie stun, and the other two are turned at your puppet. you then can strafe away at second jr newtie, and as u kill the 3rd one and it transforms, take that time to kill the first jr newtie, and 2nd one if it respawns. Nest golem and 2nd jr newtie are facing puppet, so just about no damage taken at all.

If your standing at the sniping stop in Middle platform, your strafe should even be able to reach the 3rd jr newtie/nest golem. Unless you use hawk/puppet and walk in the center of the middle platform. Other than that I don't really see how middle platform is the fastest. I also stated that Bottom platform is better for 2xexp/4xexp and any other bonus exp as newties gives 3800exp on 1x and they give 7400 on 2x, but nest golems gives 4.450 on 1x and 8900 on 2x. Middle platform is good however because the moment you kill the first jr.newtie your strafe will be directed to the second one if u move close enough, after you kill the 2nd one you will be finding yourself shooting the first one again and it continues like that on the middle platform. I found that grinding at jr. newties is just too boring for me at lvl 100+ and btw add me im a ranger in galicia near your lvl, i usually gallos with some friends of mine or people i meet there

Thanks for the replies guys. Contrary to what you guys seem to believe, I never train unless I'm on 2x or greater. As a matter of fact, I bought a 2x Weekend card from 1-5PM PST time. I think I can tough it out for 12 more levels at Newties, but it'll be hell for me, because 10million+ EXP is just ugh. shmexyazn7 Do you think you can post a video or something of that training style? Seems confusing to me, haha.

I have a heck of a time trying to get there though, I've died four out of five times going there, so annoying. Anyone know an easy way to get past the Crimson Guardians? I go up the right side, but before the portal there is always one CG that barely moves and respawns too fast to make it up to the portal in time. OP: I'm in the same spot, except I'm 5 levels away. My cb is so much more fun to train, but I just want to get my ranger to a bm, not only to have a fourth jobber but also to have hurricane. Tip: switch up training maps and do what you want. For example, I like hunting windraiders because I can turn in their badges for money or a good item. Yea the exp sucks, but it adds up and liking a training area after you've been there for so long is pretty good. Anyways, as soon as I get to 120 and get hurricane I am training my cb full time lol.

[/quote] How is your strafe supposed to reach the 3rd jr newtie and kill before the 1 and 2nd respawn?
