How to get rid of Keylogger?

I accidentally downloaded a key logger, and haven't logged in yet, but will a simple avg virus scan get rid of it? I deleted the file it came with, but I'm not sure if that made the key logger go away too. If a scan isn't enough, what do you guys suggest? Thanks.

Format Hard Drive. -safest method- Unless you run "Norton" which takes up like 4gb just to run. Good luck.

avg sucks man if you can find where the keylogger is on your computer then delete it try looking under apps folder or other hiidden files on your comp

Hmmmm i wasnt under the impression that keyloggers were only used for obtaining information for maplestory.

OK- now that your question has been moved to the tech section- DON'T FORMAT ANYTHING. There shouldn't be any need to use such drastic measures. First of all, HOW do you know you have a "keylogger"..? They don't usually come out and SAY- "Hi there, you've been keylogged". The whole purpose of a keylogger is to quietly and secretly go about its business of stealing your passwords. So- how do you know you have a keylogger..? Next- yes.. AVG may find and delete a keylogger, along with anything else evil that your computer has gotten infected with. I have AVG set to run on my computer automatically EVERY DAY, to keep my computer nice and clean. IN ADDITION- because "keyloggers" are what's known as "spyware", it's a good idea to run, in ADDITION to using AVG, a special purpose "anti-spyware scanner" like "Malwarebytes", a highly recommended security program. I use Malwarebytes along with AVG on my computer to make doubly sure I catch any nasty stuff. Google "Malwarebytes" to find the download link from the manufacturer's site. Get the Free version- it talks about upgrading to their paid version, but you don't have to do that to use the free version. Download it, install it and run it. Wnen you run it, FIRST click the "Update" tab and tell Malwarebytes to update itself so it can find all the new threats that have come out, THEN click the "Scan" tab and tell it to do a FULL scan of your computer. It may take a while to go through the hard drive and find any spyware and let you delete it, but it's worth the wait. Be sure to let AVG run automatically and remember to run Malwarebytes at least once a week to keep nasty stuff from doing evil things to your computer and your MapleStory account.
