School Dance Songs

Hey guys, I have a school dance coming and I'm gonna be djing. I was wondering if this time around I should include more songs that certain people would enjoy more other than the traditional popular choices/chart toppers. Basically, generic popular culture dance music or adding a twist with some other genres that certain people would enjoy more (covering a wide genre of music). I'm leaning toward the first option seeing how it's been relatively succesful before. What's basil's input on this?

Just get the top radio tracks, find dope remixes, mix in a few slow songs in the mix. You don't gotta get songs that are recent, some of the best songs are those of the past. As for the underground music, depends on the genre of course.

Of course I include remixes and music that isn't recent too. As for the underground stuff i'm leaning towards mostly hiphop if I were to include it and maybe a few others. Seems like most people are suggesting I just stick with what I usually do lol

That way, if people show interest, you still got a whole playlist left to finish. If not, just stick to what you do best. Save the experiments for later :D

It might be a bit hard to manage since it'll be prepared before lol. What I mean is it usually fills up with people around an hour or a bit after the dance starts. So I won't be able to play any experimental (so to speak) songs at a desired time probably

If this is a high school dance, add a few slow songs, put a few popular songs, and subtly add some new ones into the list. That might work. Maybe you should do the experiments at home, though, so that you know what you're doing.

Dance/House music with singing, get some classics that EVERYONE knows the dance moves to (i.e. jump around, get low (lil wayne), sugarhill gang), and slow songs Can't think of much else that you'd need

Okay, I'm going with the traditional format as usual. Maybe sometime in the future I'll try something more experimental at a dance though
