Why does America's rice suck?

I came from the China and few weeks ago and it was my first year in an American school. So at lunch I want to try the American food when I see the mandarin chicken with the rice. so I get that and when i eat the rice it taste not very good. parts of it was under cook and some over cooked. also the chicken is not fresh. it taste like rubber and hard to chew and dry.
