Why do people play Maplestory?

Maplestory. A game I began to play about 3 years ago. Now that I reflect back, those were the worst 3 years of my life. Too much spare time? Bored? I used to think Maplestory was the answer. Probably the worst choice I've ever made. Everything takes too much time to accomplish, and it's extremely repetitive. Some quests require you to kill over 200 monsters which have a low spawn rate. These quests can take up to 2 hours to finish. And what do you get? About 30% of your EXP bar and an item worth 5mil mesos, oh yay. The movements you make with your avatar are too simple and require reletively no skill to handle. All you do is circle around the map in the same order over and over again, hitting your skills (or usually ONE skill) with the same key strokes, hoping that the numbers you hit are higher than your average hit. Then, there's boat rides. Isn't a game supposed to cure your boredom? Then why are we made to sit 10-15 minute boat rides to move to different continents? I don't understand how fighting a boss is fun. You stand there for over 10 minutes just holding down a button, staring at the slowly decreasing HP bar. "Maplestory is a free MMORPG". In debatable terms, nothing is "Free". You spend a lot of time and energy, which are both potentially worth more than money, to play. But, in the general sense, "Free" means no money required. Nexon doesn't add NX items for nothing. Many Maplers spend good money on NX cash, and because of this, most of the time, they possess advantages over free players. Maplestory is stressful and frustrating. In order to level fast (and many people want to) you must spend 2k NX cash to buy a 2x EXP card. These expire after 4 hours after you have purchased the item. Most people wouldn't want to waste any time, so they must train for 4 hours straight. Theres also potions that you must use. In a lot of other RPG's, you don't require to use so many potions. Every minute or so, you have to use a potion, and it's stressful. You have to be completely alert of your HP (this can be avoided however, if you purchase a pet and auto HP pot from the CASH SHOP). Also, when training, you have to find and keep a map. This requires you to surf 19-20 channels continuously, while 100 other people are doing the same as you. Then to keep a map, you have to face KS'ers. Finally, there's Nexon. I remember spending 6 hours training my new character from lvl 1-50 only to find that he was rolled back after the server check. I remember seeing dozens of hackers at wolf spiders and vikerolas. I remember not being able to delete offline friends because Nexon was unable to do their job properly. These are just a few of the many points and examples as to why people should NOT play Maplestory. Please post comments referring to your opinions as to whether you want to support or go against this argument.

I play maple because it's free and it's fun. And if you think fun is a waste of time please just go DIAF. Because we don't need lame drone people on this planet.

If you're getting stressed/frustrated at the game, you should stop playing it. oh and it's not easy to run a big company like nexon. and also, you're posting this on an MS forum... most of the people here still play, i'd bet.
