I Found a Flash Drive Today in the Rain

While walking home I saw something reflect in a parking lot along the way. It was a 16GB flash drive just sitting there. I picked it up and brought it home. I let it dry for a few hours and when I plugged it in, it worked! I tried looking through all the files (because I'm nosy) but all I found was some old vacation photos. No identification, no info, nada. It sits on my desk, next to my 2GB flash drive I use daily. I'd like to get those pictures returned to the original owner, but I am at a loss as what to do. Any thoughts Basil?

I heard of a trick where people leave flashdrives infected with viruses in open areas, so unsuspecting people pick them up and plug them into their computers out of curiosity. You might wanna run a scan.

I think it will be impossible to find the owner. It could've come from anyone, so I guess you get a free 16GB usb.

Thanks for saying flash drive instead of USB. :D It's nice that you're trying to return it, I think OMGPanda's idea would be the most realistic. <<Use some of those posters that people use for lost pets. Print out an innocent photo of them (nothing embarassing!) and ask "IS THIS YOU? I HAVE YOUR FLASHDRIVE.">> You could try camping out at the parking lot until they come looking for it, but again, not realistic.

[/quote] It was a school parking lot, but the thing is...and this might sound bad, by turning it into 'someone else', I'm assuming that they're going to go out and do the right thing and locate the owner. Or just keep it. You might wanna run a scan. [/quote] My computer is not a whore. Anything that gets plugged into it is scanned for any nasty viruses and such. Plus, that's an expensive way to get a virus on someone else's computer. Thanks for the advice everyone so far. And the UnAdvice for some people.
