The opposite of Girl is Boy, not guy. Plenty of girls use the term guys to as a collective term to refer to their friends. So shouldn't it be BIRL?

Girl = Boy Guy = Women We don't associate guys with girls or boys with women, we have guys and women then boys and girls. So if the general GIRL term means guy in real life you would have to make it WIRL for women in real life to associate them together.
