How do you know that the color blue that you see

Is the same color blue that other people see? For example, how could you prove that the color blue I see is actually the color brown that you see? Even if you put up a picture of something blue, we'd both say blue, even though the color blue to you is actually the color brown. Discuss and solve.

[/quote] It's also to see if you can tell the difference between blue and purple and colors like that. And I guess you describe the color by the hue it has.

I remembering wondering this when I found out I was colorblind. I'm not entirely sure how the communication between the rods/cones in the eyes and the brain works so I can't say for sure if there's an answer to it

I thought about this in 3rd grade. I concluded you can use light and dark to find out. For example, the sun is very bright. If someone saw yellow (the sun) as black, they could look at it easily. However, if it hurts their eyes too, I figured we see the same thing. EDIT: And theres also a hue test which would tell you.

If this is meant to be a "philosophical" question, I suppose we can't really know, but it's clear that, regardless of what we actually see, our systems are consistent. We still call the same phenomenon by the same name even if we experience that phenomenon differently. Arguably, that's what really matters.
