Hello Basilers, I'm thinking that this has been posted a million times on the forums somewhere but I want your opinions and before I make my way to 70 I was thinking about my build. I am planning to follow either the Basilmarket Standard Ranger Build or Arrow Rain First Build. I've seen quite a few guides on different training places (Typhons, Gallos, etc.) but I'm not sure which one to first. I've seen a few Typhon guides that suggest level 85+ and so on but I want want to clarify what would be most benificial to me. Any suggestions to where I should train from 70+ are welcomed, I'm guessing you can't come straight out after your job advancement on an AR first build and go to Typhons or Gallos? It's just so confusing so your help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, StarryCat.

i heard that for regular rangers they are supposed build strafe first. although, for wind archers its supposed to be arrow rain. I would actually prefer strafe first because its alot more damage boost and stronger than double shot. rangers/hunters also have arrow bomb ( i think thats what its called) which can be used more than Arrow rain (also stuns the monsters). I think wind archers start out as Arrow Rain build first because they dont have that arrow bomb.

@yomamma1134 AR serves a different purpose than AB - for one thing, it offers a larger radius of attack due to the additional horizontal range that AB can't cover AND the lack of minimum range, hence AR-first rangers preferring to train on mob-intensive maps. @OP I'd highly recommend the AR first build, if only for the fact that Typhons give godly amounts of EXP by the time you can level on them, and you won't have to face the excruciating(ly boring) experience of sniping Jr. Newties. Course, that's just my opinion, I digress. Here's some training spots I personally used after I got 1 AR and before heading off to Typhons: Griffins (Mountain Cliffs): 72 ~ 75 Use the teleporters to warp around and spam AR - take care to avoid falling down. Excellent practice for Typhons. ;] Pirates (Red Nose Pirate Den 2): 75 ~ 81 Using AR on the middle platform hits the pirates on the bottom. Great place to make $$$ if you pick up the leftovers. You can probably head off to pirates earlier, if you want. (My memory is a little fuzzy from the level 70's because it was around three years ago, hahah.) Typhons: 81 ~ 1xx I would recommend heading there when you get 27 AR for maximum range covered - for me, that was level 81. HOWEVER, it is really pot intensive and if you don't have a decent attack bow (I was using a 107 ATK Arund and 12 ATK Cordon) you're better off staying at pirates for a couple more levels. Around the level 85~ range is a great time, as you mentioned, as your killing speed really begins to pick up. (I would suggest either doing the Mark of Heroism quest or develop a reflex for esc + up + enter.) Wolf Spiders: 81 ~ 1xx Nice money drops, harsh damage. Whenever I started to run low on funds from Typhons, I usually headed here or Pirates to make up for it. They give a decent amount of exp.

Wow! Thank you so so much! That has cleared up alot of the issues that I needed covered. After reading your information I am definitely leaning towards AR first, top grade information. If anyone has any objections, changes or anything they would like to add please do so. Thank you! StarryCat.

Mezzo has it all covered, but ill add in what i have to say First, if you havent decided yet-AR first! now what i did lvl 70 i got 1 strafe like everyone else, then lvl 72 i had 1 AR and 5 MB at lvl 72 i bought an apple for ~8m, got 2x exp and a 2x card. I spent 10 minutes at typhons on 4x exp and an apple and gained 2 lvls! extremely quick and easy. by that time you will have 7 AR, this is when i typhon-ed 100% of the time. I personally disagree with the lvl 27 AR thing, as that is faster, but not by a ridiculous amount- as in Typhons at lvl 75 with 11 AR is much faster than Pirates Have fun on your ranger!

Hey there, thanks for your suggestion. The AR first build guide here on Basil states that I should stop arrow rain at level 21 and start Strafe(I think)? Would this be reccommended or should I just go all the way to 30 and then start Strafe? If you want to look at the guide you can find it under stickied on the guides page (If you didn't already know). Thanks, StarryCat.

Arrow Bomb is perfectly suitable for Windraiders. You can follow Mezzo's guide, or if you don't feel like dealing with Gryphons (terrible map, good exp) you can bomb mobs of Windraiders until your AR and Puppet reach a respectable lvl.

i've always thought the combination of this is at himes: Puppet, then PKB for stragglers, then spam inferno should get u better exp than typhoons rite..? or arrow rain bottom of gallos map, then mob up top gallos, stick a puppet away from the edge and inferno-spam ...?

AR for gallos/typhons. At typhons you go to far right,AR the bottom monsters from the safe area & Arrow bomb the top line. this will be incredibly hard to keep up though with gallos being the most crowded map in the game

You can try this also if you want: i'm thinking of it with gallos so full all the time: Lvl 1 arrow rain, max inferno Mob himes left to right, stick a puppet a bit away from the far right side. Then you can just spam inferno into the mob of them...im pretty sure it would out damage arrow rain with the 6 second extra burn damage.
