I was really looking forward to high school because of the parties and all the fun times people talk about. People always tell me high school parties are their greatest memories of being a teenager. I'm 16, I've never been invited to one. I don't know if I'm in the wrong crowd or what's going on, but people on Basil make these things look as easy as breathing. I'm not ugly, I'm not a nerd, I'm not anti-social. I don't get what I'm doing wrong /:

You'll grow out of it when you realise it's getting you nowhere and helping you achieve nothing. Life will eventually throw up a reason for you to stop sooner or later. Enjoy your woefully temporary substance-induced instantly gratifying high. edit: Oh, elmSTREET doesn't care about dying from overdosing? Nothing of real value will be lost. @ topic: Not a huge issue. You're not missing out on anything worth the cost, anything at all in fact. Just relax, talk to others, respect others where it is warranted, even initiate your own social gathering wherever and things will just pan out more often than not the way that you hoped it would.

Well, I'm a senior in high school and all I can tell you is: If you're white and rich, you get invited to parties. Otherwise, forget it. Good thing I hate beer. Birthday parties ftw? o-o
elmSTREETson : Everyone I party with is either in HS, college, or has at least graduated. Straight-A students party all the time, get hammered, etc. Who cares about damaging your body, once you're old enough for it to matter you'll wanna die anyways. I, at least personally really would rather die at 70 than 80 anyways. Being old is boring. I've thrown up once in my life from being too messed up, and that was from shrooms lol. I remember every night vaguely enough to have memories, and who needs memories anyways? I don't live life looking back at things like that, only at my feet 'cause I live in the moment. I don't rely on it, but I'm telling you it really does enhance ANY sort of fun. I choose to. I can stop, I can live without it, I can be happy without it, but I don't want to because I have no reason to do so. When you call me a girl instead of a guy I'll laugh uncontrollably at you. ow8 kid already happened. I've been to the hospital numerous amounts of times, what's ya point brah? I'm no super human, but I don't care about dying at a younger age if it means having fun. If I got to pick I think dying at around 65 sounds perfect. Why live scared of dying or what could possibly happen? Just go live life stop being scared of the consequences. Don't think, just do. You'll be a lot happier, I promise.
I was going to have a full blown argument with you, but I guess we've sort met halfway. Right now, at such a tender age, you might not care about whether you live or die at a young age, but when your older when you have kids and possibly grandkids, you might want to have lived longer. The whole point of the thread was about "greatest teenage memories", and without those memories, how can they be cherished when you've already forgotten the next morning? I've got to say, once adulthood has set in and your life becomes old and boring, it is those memories you rely on to remind you of the good times you have. Back on topic, the whole mentality of "dont think, just do" is what causes so many deaths of the roads due to the influence of alcohol, and do you really wanna kill your best friend on the backseat of your car? I don't think so. Hmm I think I've gone way off topic, but meh.
Exactly my point here: "once adulthood has set in and your life becomes old and boring" I don't wanna have a boring adult hood and elderly life. I'm really not planning to live extremely old for no other reason than I just don't wanna live a boring, restricted life. Why not have fun while I can and experience all the fun I possibly can? It's only short lived and influences a time in my life that I care nothing about. Who says we drive drunk? WOAH THERE BROSKI. We don't drive drunk.
EtherXFayt : You won't have the time of your life in high school, at least not in the way you are thinking. In my opinion, the high school life was fun because in all your life you will NEVER have less responsibilities while being an adult than in high school. In high school you have the ability to drive, not care about doing homework etc, not care about working, and not worry about doing anything while in school. You can goof off with friends all day, and you can live carefree while still being able to drive and get around and chill with friends/not worry about bills and whatnot. THATS why people said high school was "the best time of their lives", not because they stayed ripped out of their mind 24/7. Also, parties are really more of a college thing than a high school thing. And the fact that you think getting drunk and partying will make high school "fun or a blast" is pretty sad lol, no offense. Have fun with your CLOSE friends, thats how you have fun in high school.
This is how i had MY fun in high school. My best friends were what made high school fun, if it wasnt for them, all my years at high school woulda chopped Parties arent as great as they seem TS, well at least some of them. Most of the parties are just people standing around or sitting down. even with alcohol, most of the time its the latter. just wait till college or just kick back with friends and party small style, thats what i do and its always fun :D!
I guess I did go a bit overboard with the whole "ALCOHOL KILLS" message, but that's not really my point. My point is that teenage parties are such a small part, and there'll be plenty of party opportunities in college. What I mean before, was that when life does become boring, you look back on those nostalgic moments you've shared with friends, and bring them up occasionally to remember and cherish the old times with your stories. If life is nothing but parties and alcohol, with no memory of it, I don't understand how that is satisfying that those parties "fun" given that they were pointless, when you don't even remember how you had fun. If that makes any sense at all. Eg. "The party I went to last night was hell fun, I was so drunk" "How was the party fun?" "I.... don't know"

All you're going to do is drink all night. Trust me; it's NOT fun at all. Chances are you're just going to drink and be hung over the next morning. I tell you the truth; it's not worth losing your liver over.

I didn't go to any parties in High School. I never really heard about them and stuff, and it wasn't my scene. Usually I'd just drink with like 4-5 friends or like get high with friends. I ended up going to a party for graduation, but I wasn't there long, although it was fairly fun.
