How to be not antisocial?

Well since high school started I don't have classes with my friends anymore leaving the fact that I have no one to talk to. I like being alone sometimes but not that much and am sometimes quiet. When lunch comes I tend to hide from my friends to eat by myself but they have an hour to find me so they find me. It's not like I hate them or anything I just want to be alone secluded from the noise in my own world. I need to start making new friends but it's hard but easy for my friends they just talk to anyone and boom new friends. But for me I don't like starting conversations and is terrible at small talk so I don't know how that is going to help me make new friends. So what do I do to get new friends? Overall story: Jealous of friends because they can make instant new ones while for me it takes awhile but needs to make some. Sorry if my grammar is wrong only in English I

Iunno. We could all probably preach to you on how to be friendly and what not, but you'll most likely forget all of it tomorrow. Just step outside your comfort zone. You'll get better at it.

You need to have another friend as a back up, that's the only way I, as a shy person, can make friends. For example, last year in lunch, I had two friends, so I sat with them. Then, another small group of friends sat across from us. Eventually, everybody starts talking to each other and voila, new friends. This way works because since I can't always carry small talk, another friend can jump in and continue. Just make sure your friends aren't the immature type.

omgpanda their not immature but we don't eat at the cafeteria because our lunch is all 9-12 mixed so no space.. making us eat at the vending machines infront of the cafeteria pgfytr yea i want to be social more

Well, the basis of being friends with someone is sharing common interests and such, so joining a club that reflects your interests should make you tons of friends, since you'll have something to talk about. I had the same problem as you, but you just have to find those people that like what you do. (Not saying you can't be friends with people you don't share interests with)

Youth is truly like a seed, slowly growing.. Then you realise people are better than you in diffirent ways, people see and treat you in diffirent ways, some will bring you down while others smile when you come around.. It doesn't make sense I know, in time you will realise that it is better to get your words out, learn to express yourself, build self confidence.. It sounds basic but sooner or later you will get tired of being the shy, quiet kid =/ Trust me. You will become more social in time..

Make some small talk with people around you in class. You'll eventually get to know em. If you're in High School or Middle, and you went to elementary school in that district, ask if they know any of your old friends. Just by that, I made my first friends in my first days of High School. GL.
